Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve estimation accuracy of the air volume filling a cylinder. SOLUTION: Density ρm in an intake manifold is calculated (101). A cylinder volume Vivc in an intake valve closing period is multiplied by a throttle coefficient Klft based on an opening area of the intake valve part to calculate effective cylinder volume Vcyl (102-104). A first correction coefficient K1 by intake pulsation with respect to the effective cylinder volume Vcyl, a second correction coefficient K2 by a pressure loss in an intake valve part, and a third correction coefficient K3 by heat transfer through the valve in the intake valve part, are calculated (105-107). The effective cylinder volume Vcyl is multiplied by the first-third correction coefficients K1-K3 to calculate corrected effective cylinder volume Vefe (108, 109). Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate internal EGR amount with high accuracy. SOLUTION: A basic value of internal EGR amount without overlapping is calculated (S2), and when overlapping, increasing correction amounts (S5, S6, S7) due to overlapping calculated by considering overlap time, a center crank position thereof, and intake air pressure are added to calculate internal EGR amount (S8). A target closing timing of an intake air valve is calculated to a target air amount correcting valve obtained by adding the internal EGR amount to a calculated target air amount (S1).
