Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus and method is provided to allow corrective maintenance to be easily and rapidly performed by detecting and displaying failure of relay connected between load and power. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises a relay failure detection unit(24), a micro computer(23) and a display unit(25). The relay failure detection unit includes an operation resistance(R1) for dividing the voltage of a predetermined driving power(Vb), a voltage dividing resistance(R2) connected to a switch terminal of a relay(21) and which divides the voltage flowing at both ends of a load(20), a photo-transistor(PT) turning on/off in accordance with the voltage flowing at both ends of the load, and first and second diodes(D1,D2) connected between the photo-transistor and the load and which prevents current flow in reverse direction. The relay failure detection unit outputs a relay failure detection signal when a failure occurs at the relay. The micro computer output a relay driving signal to a buffer IC(22), determines failure of the relay in accordance with the relay failure detection signal output from the relay failure detection unit and outputs a display control signal to display the failure portion when relay failure occurs. The display unit displays relay failure state in accordance with the display control signal of the micro computer.
