Abstract: PURPOSE: A printing method and system in a public printer is provided to notify a user of a printing cost though the user transmits all the printing data to a public printer so that the user recognizes a printing cost and determines a printing request before transmitting the printing data. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises several steps. It is checked whether a portable memory or data terminal receives a certification for transmitting data to a public printer(10). If the portable memory or data terminal receives the certification, data on a size of printing target data is received from the portable memory or data terminal(12). A printing cost is calculated on a basis of the data of the size of the printing target data, is transmitted to the user, and checks a payment(14). Finally, the printing target data is printed(16).
