    Abstract: The present invention relates to an air conditioner and a control method for the same and, more specifically, to an air conditioner and a control method for the same to reduce the vibration of a compressor by controlling the operation frequency of the compressor; and to maintain the amount of oil stored in the compressor. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the air conditioner includes a dual inverter compressor with first and second inverter compressors; an operation area determination part to determine whether the dual inverter compressor operates in a high frequency operation area or in a low frequency operation area; an offset setting part to produce the operation frequency offset of the dual inverter compressor based on the operation area determined; and a control part which produces the operation frequency of the first and second inverter compressors based on the operation frequency offset, and a control signal for operating the dual inverter compressor based on the operation frequency of the first and second inverter compressors. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the air conditioner improves the cycle reliability of the compressor and reduces the vibration transmission of the compressor by differently setting the offsets of the compressor for the low frequency operation area from the high frequency operation area.
