    Abstract: A method and apparatus for estimating the uplink transmitting timing in the wireless telecommunications system is provided to control the uplink transmitting timing at every frame. The procedure of estimating the uplink transmitting timing at the terminal of the wireless telecommunications system comprises as follows. If the downlink frame is received to the terminal(401), the down link timing is pursued by using the preamble signal included in the downlink frame. The terminal calculates the time offset value between the previous downlink frame and the received downlink frame(405). The timing control value for adjusting the uplink transmitting timing by using the time offset value is calculated(407). The terminal controls the uplink transmitting timing by using the timing control value(409). The terminal inspects whether the ranging response(RNG-RSP) message is received from the base station or not(411).
