Abstract: The present invention relates to a user interface apparatus based on image overlay. A user interface apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a display unit for outputting a user interface screen in a display area; a sensing unit for capturing an image of a motion of an input means used to enter a user′s input; an input recognition unit for overlapping a motion image of the input means over the user interface screen in the display area, and recognizing a user′s input corresponding to a motion of the input means on the overlapped user interface screen; and a processing unit for processing a real motion corresponding to the recognized user′s input.
