Abstract: PURPOSE: A portable computer is provided to easily open or close a cover with one hand and to easily operate the cover. CONSTITUTION: A portable computer includes a main body(10), an LCD assembly(50) joined to the main body(10), and an opening/closing device against the main body(10). The opening/closing device includes a fixed hook(61) installed to the LCD assembly(50), a movable hook between a position locked to the fixed hook(61) and the position unlocked from the fixed hook(61), and an operation part(66). The operation part(66) includes a push button exposed to the outside of the main body(10) and a projection part moving the movable hook to an unlock position.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A battery for a notebook computer with a detachable CD-ROM drive is provided, which is mounted where the CD-ROM drive is mounted for using the space of a notebook computer effectively. CONSTITUTION: The battery(60) comprises a housing(61) which is formed with the same shape to that a CD-ROM drive; a battery cell(74) which is mounted within the housing; and a connector(68) which is connected with the battery cell electrically and is jointed to the power terminal of a notebook computer. The CD-ROM drive is provided with a body part, and an extension part which is extended from the side of the body part; the battery is provided with a body part(62) and an extension part(64) corresponding to those of the CD-ROM drive; and the body part(62) comprises a charge circuit (a charge circuit, 70) which is placed between the battery cell(74) and the connector(68) and joined to them, and charges the battery cell(74).
