Abstract: PURPOSE: A tilt control device for an optical disc player and a method thereof are provided to control tilt in the tangential direction manually and automatically control tilt in the radial direction by controlling inclinations of two guide shafts together, thereby keeping the linearity for the change of jitter value and precisely carrying out the dynamic control by servo elements. CONSTITUTION: A tilt control device for an optical disc player includes an intermediate gear(164) detachably mounted to a main base(110). When the intermediate gear is not mounted, the connection between a driving motor(162) and two cam elements(166b,168b) is disconnected so that the cam elements become rotating manually. Then, either or both of two guide shafts(151,152) are controllable in the inclination, so that the tilt of an optical pickup(130) is controllable both in the tangential and radial directions. In the other case, the intermediate gear become rotating by the driving motor and the cam elements rotate simultaneously, so that the inclinations of the guide shafts are controlled by the same degree in the same direction. Then, the tilt is controlled in the radial direction.

CONSTITUTION: A tilt controller of an optical disc player includes a control stage, a read screw tilt control unit, and a guide shaft tilt control unit. The control stage is set at one end of each of a read screw(146) and a guide shaft. The read screw reciprocates an optical pick, and the guide shaft guides the reciprocation of the optical pick-up. The read screw tilt control unit includes a screw holder(180) for holding the control stage of the read screw such that the control stage is freely rotated, the first elastic member(171) for applying upward elasticity to the screw holder, and the first adjustment screw(161) for rotating the read screw by a predetermined angle.
