Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for managing paging in a wireless communication network are provided to prevent the waste of microcell or macrocell resources by allowing femtocells to perform paging for a terminal in a paging region if a terminal moves from a paging region to a femtocell region. CONSTITUTION: A processor(302) confirms the movement of a terminal from a first cell region to a second cell region. The first and second base stations have different cell types, and a transceiver(304) transmits the information related to the movement of the terminal from the first cell region to the second cell region to the second base station. The information on the movement of the terminal is transmitted to the second base station through an AAI_RNG-REQ(Advance Air Interface Ranging-Request) message.
