    Abstract: PURPOSE: An optical pick-up having a chromatic aberration lens is provided to correct chromatic aberration using refraction of an optical material, thus producing high optical efficiency. CONSTITUTION: An optical pick-up includes an optical source(10) emitting lights, an objective lens(60) for focusing the lights emitted from the optical source to form a light spot on a recording medium(1), and an optical path converter that is placed on an optical path between the optical source and the objective lens and converts the traveling path of incident light. The optical pick-up further has a chromatic aberration correction lens(40) that is placed on the optical path and corrects chromatic aberration, and a light detector(90) for receiving lights that were reflected from the recording medium and passed through the optical path converter. The chromatic aberration correction lens is configured of at least two lenses of a lens having positive power and a lens having negative power, which are adjacent to each other. The total focal distance of the chromatic aberration correction lens is infinite relatively to the focal distance of the objective lens.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: An optical pickup having an aberration correction element is provided to improve optical efficiency by having structure for selectively inducing phase difference depending on the polarization of incident beam. CONSTITUTION: An optical pickup consists of a first light source(101) emitting first light(101a) having a relative short wavelength; an objective lens(107) forming optical spots on an optical disk(100) by focusing the first light; a beam splitter(103) changing the traveling path of the first light; a first aberration correction element(130) correcting chromatic aberration by changes in wavelength of the first light; and an optical detector(110) receiving the first light incident via the objective lens and the beam splitter. The optical elements are prepared for an HD-DVD(High Definition Digital Versatile Disk,100a) having a higher density than a DVD(100). The chromatic aberration of the first light is corrected by the first aberration correction element and then removed by differentiation with chromatic aberration in the objective lens. Therefore, the optical efficiency is improved.

The sub light receivers receive incident light of a peripheral part. The arithmetic operator arithmetically operates a detecting signal(A) of the center and detecting signals(B,C) of the peripheral part, to remove crosstalks caused by a neighboring track included in a main track signal in a recorded medium. The operator is composed of a first adder(21), a multiplier(23), and a second adder(25). The first adder adds signals optically converted and outputted from the sub light receivers. The multiplier multiplies signals of the first adder by an operating invariable number. The second adder adds a signal optically converted in the main light receiver to a signal of the multiplier.
