Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for determining an up-sampling filter to accurately interpolate sample values in respective sampling locations according to an up-sampling scale in scalable video encoding/decoding. The up-sampling method for scalable video encoding/decoding includes the steps of: determining a phase-shift between the pixels in a high-definition image and the pixels in a low-definition image based on a scaling factor between the high-definition image and the low-definition image; selecting at least one filter coefficient set corresponding to the phase-shift in filter coefficient data including the filter coefficient sets corresponding to respective phase-shifts to generate another high-definition image by filtering the low-definition image; and generating an enhanced layer bit-stream presenting the up-sampling filter information presenting the phase-shift and high-definition encoding information generated by encoding the high-definition image.

Disclosed is a method for compensating for a motion for encoding/decoding of a scalable video. The method includes the steps of: acquiring a first prediction value of each pixel constituting a current block from a corresponding block of a basic layer corresponding to a current block of an improvement layer; acquiring a second prediction value of each pixel constituting the current block using a block unit bidirectional motion compensation result and a pixel unit motion compensation result for the improvement layer; and acquiring a prediction value of each pixel constituting the current block using a weighted sum of the first prediction value and the second prediction value.

The present invention relates to the signaling of an SAO parameter determined to minimize an error between an original image and a restored image in a video encoding and decoding operation. Disclosed is an SAO decoding method which acquires left SAO aggregation information and upward SAO aggregation information which are entropy-encoded based on a context from the bitstream of the largest coding unit, acquires SAO on/off information which is entropy-encoded based on a context for each color component from the bitstream, acquires offset absolute value information for each SAO category entropy-encoded in a bypass mode, and acquires either the band location information or edge class information which are entropy-encoded in a bypass mode. PURPOSE: A method for interpolating an image using a smoothing interpolation filter and a device thereof are provided to reduce high frequency components. CONSTITUTION: A filter selecting unit(12) differently selects an interpolation filter from the interpolation filters for generating a pixel value of at least one sub pel unit based on an interpolation location and smoothness of the sub pel unit. An interpolation unit(14) interpolates an integer pel unit neighboring the interpolation location of the sub pel unit by using a selected interpolation filter. The interpolation unit generates a pixel value of the sub pel unit.

PURPOSE: An image encoding method and apparatus and an image decoding method and apparatus are provided to change the pixel value of each pixel inside a prediction block with post-processing depending on a location within the picture of the prediction block and create a new prediction block. CONSTITUTION: A prediction unit creates a first prediction encoding unit for a current encoding unit to be encoded(2110). In case the current encoding unit does not include an area which escapes the boundary of a current picture, a post-processing unit creates a second prediction encoding unit with the change of the pixel value of each pixel(2120,2130). In case the current encoding unit includes the area which escapes the boundary of the current picture, the post-processing unit outputs the first prediction encoding unit as the prediction information of the current encoding unit(2140).
