Abstract: PURPOSE: An automatic washing machine and a control method thereof are provided to prevent a circulating pump motor from idling in a status without enough washing water by confirming whether a first reference time is passes after starting a water supplying cycle. CONSTITUTION: A control method of a washing machine comprises the following steps. A washing course is processed according to a washing mode and a setting water level which user sets(301). A water supply cycle is started(302). A spin basket and a pulsator are rotated to the contrary direction(303). Whether a circulating pump motor is in a rotating condition or not is confirmed(304). The contrary rotation of the pulsator and the spin basket is stopped and the circulating pump motor is rotated(305). Whether a first reference time is passed after the circulating pump motor starts to rotate is confirmed(306). Whether a laundry water level is higher than a setting water level which is set by user is confirmed(307). The water supply cycle is closed and the other cycle is processed if in a water supply termination condition(312).

Abstract: A laundry washing machine and a control method are provided to increase the efficiency of the washing by performing the swelling process for the estimated time. A laundry washing machine comprises a contamination sensor(22) and a controller. The contamination sensor senses a pollution level of the water in which the laundry is dipped.
