Abstract: PURPOSE: A portable terminal having an acoustic shock protection circuit and an operation method thereof are provided to prevent the acoustic shock occurring during a voice call. CONSTITUTION: An audio processing unit(160) decodes an audio signal, and a control unit(110) confirms an output mode of the audio processing unit. An acoustic shock preventing circuit(170) is placed between a receiver-integrated speaker and an audio processing unit, and is activated to remove an audio signal which exceeds a preset output ranges if the output mode is a receiver mode. In case that the output mode is a speaker mode, the acoustic shock preventing circuit is inactivated.
