    Abstract: PURPOSE: A duobinary optical transmission device is provided to generate a duobinary optical signal without using an electric low pass filter, in order to reduce an influence by transmission characteristics and improve sensitivity of a transmission receiver. CONSTITUTION: An LD(Laser Diode)(50) outputs a carrier. An NRZ(Non Return to Zero) optical signal generator(100) inputs an NRZ electric signal, and outputs an NRZ optical signal modulating the optical carrier according to the NRZ electric signal. A duobinary optical signal generator(200) inputs the NRZ electric signal, and modulates the NRZ optical signal into a duobinary signal according to the NRZ electric signal. The NRZ optical signal generator(100) comprises as follows. One pair of the first modulator driving amplifiers(110,111) amplify the NRZ electric signal, and output the amplified NRZ electric signal. An MZ(Mach-Zehnder) interferometer type optical intensity modulator(120) modulates intensity of the optical carrier.
