    Abstract: A device and a method for controlling electronic appliances with hand gesture are provided to enable a user to control the electronic appliances conveniently with the small hand gesture in a remote place by using a transmitter, which is put on a hand or a finger, or is held by the hand. A transmitter(20) transmits an infrared signal for selecting and controlling a target electronic appliance by the hand gesture in a state when the transmitter is put on the finger or held by the hand. A receiver(10) activates a standby state for receiving the infrared signal by recognizing selection of the electronic appliance from the infrared signal received from the transmitter, and controls the electronic appliance by recognizing the hand gesture from the received infrared signal and transmitting a control signal matched with the hand gesture to an infrared receiver of the electronic appliance. The receiver includes a signal detector detecting an image trajectory of the infrared signal received from the transmitter, a signal analyzer recognizing the hand gesture by analyzing the image trajectory of the infrared signal, an input result output part, a signal converter, and an infrared signal transmitter.
