Abstract: PURPOSE: A sulfonated styrene monomer, a manufacturing method thereof and an ion exchange membrane using the same are provided to minimize chemical effects which can be occurred during sulfonation. CONSTITUTION: A manufacturing method of sulfonated styrene monomer comprises the following steps: preparing ionic liquid which prevents the styrene monomer from being polymerized; forming a first mixture by mixing the ionic liquid with chlorosulfonic acid; forming a second mixture by adding the styrene monomer into the first mixture; and irradiating electron beam to the second mixture. The ionic liquid and chlorosulfonic acid are mixed at the weight ratio of 1:0.5-1:1. The first mixture and the styrene monomer are mixed at the weight ratio of 0.05:1-0.15:1.
