PURPOSE: A video service providing method in a digital multimedia broadcast system and a terminal thereof are provided to supply video service which is same as video service received through connection with a communication network in a terrestrial DMB system from service disconnection timing. CONSTITUTION: A broadcast reception unit(101) receives a first video transport stream from a broadcast system. A communications unit(103) receives a second video transport stream corresponding to identifier information and play time information from a network connection service system. If video service is cut, a control unit(106) transfers the identifier information and the play time information to the communications unit. The control unit subsequently offers the video service through the second video signal.

PURPOSE: A DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) transceiving apparatus and method are provided to include specific information in a pilot signal for channel estimation, thereby improving a data transfer rate. CONSTITUTION: A pilot signal generator(120) is used for estimation of a transmission channel in a receiving unit. The pilot signal generator creates a pilot signal. The pilot signal comprises one or more information. A subcarrier mapping unit(130) maps the pilot signal to subcarrier corresponding to the pilot signal. A modulator(140) modulates the output of the subcarrier mapping unit. The pilot signal has a value about the specific information, not a value which the receiving unit has previously acknowledged.

PURPOSE: A DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) transmission/reception apparatus and a method thereof equipped with a prior coding unit are provided to reduce computational complexity by including the prior coding unit. CONSTITUTION: A DMB transmission/reception apparatus comprise a variable spreader(120), a modulator(130) and an antenna(140). The modulator modulates the output of the variable spreader. The antenna transmits a message the forged signal. The variable spreader comprises a spreader and prior coding unit. A spreader diffuses the pilot signal in the frequency domain. The prior coding unit multiplies the orthogonal code in the signal outputted in spreader.

A transmission method and a reception method for a DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) system are provided to maximally guarantee inverse compatibility of a real service signal in a receiver by transmitting hierarchical modulation information without changing a transmission format of the service signal. A first hierarchical signal and a second layer signal corresponding to data added to the first hierarchical data are modulated by using each modulation mode(S240). The modulated first and second hierarchical signal is hierarchically modulated(S250). A hierarchically modulated signal is transmitted through a data channel of a transmission frame. The transmission frame transmits information related to hierarchical modulation is transmitted through a sync channel for transferring decoding information(S260).

A multiplexing device of digital multimedia broadcasting, a multiplexing method, and a recording medium are provided to encode plural programs at different bit rates according to complexity degrees of the programs, thereby improving quality of the programs. Encoders(210) individually encode plural services at plural bit rates, and generate plural encoded services. A bit rate controller(220) individually determines the plural bit rates. A channel distributor(250) allocates at least one sub channel to each of the encoded services. The channel distributor allocates at least one shared channel to the encoded services. A frame generator(260) generates a transfer frame. The transfer frame includes the plural sub channels and the at least one shared channel.

A transmission and reception method of a broadcasting signal is provided to be compatible with an existing visual radio broadcasting signal, thereby offering high-quality video/audio services. An audio encoder(100) encodes an inputted audio signal into a basic layer audio elementary stream and an enhancement layer audio elementary stream. A video encoder(200) encodes an inputted video signal into a basic layer video elementary stream and an enhancement layer video elementary stream. The basic layer audio and video elementary streams are multiplexed into basic layer transport streams of a second level. The enhancement layer audio and video elementary streams are multiplexed into enhancement layer transport streams of the second level.

A hierarchical modulation device modulates a plurality of first hierarchical symbols according to a first modulation method to generate a plurality of first hierarchical modulation symbols, inserts a plurality of pilot symbols into a plurality of second hierarchical symbols to generate a plurality of pilot insertion symbols, modulates a plurality of pilot insertion symbols according to a second modulation method to generate a plurality of second hierarchical modulation symbols, and maps a plurality of first hierarchical modulation symbols and the plurality of second hier archical modulation symbols in the signal space to generate a plurality of hierarchical modulation symbols. Therefore, the hierarchical modulation device can improve receiving performance of the enhancement layer without influencing the base layer.

A hierarchic digital broadcasting transmission unit comprises an energy dispersal scrambler(501) and a turbo encoder(502). An energy dispersal scrambler performs the energy dispersal of an enhancement layer transport stream. A turbo encoder receives the input vector of the duo-binary which is the output of the energy dispersal scrambler.

A system and a method for providing an EPG(Electronic Program Guide) in a T(Terrestrial)-DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) are provided to produce the EPG as the broadcasting web service document and to offer the broadcasting web service document to users. A terrestrial DMB system provides an EPG to a terrestrial DMB terminal(40). An EPG storing member(10) stores the EPG transmitted from a service provider. An EPG change member(20) changes the EPG document with an XML type stored in the EPG storing member into a BWS EPG document of a broadcasting web site type. The BWS EPG document includes "explanations of broadcasting programs" and "preview scenes". The EPG change member includes the link information on the broadcasting program explained by the electronic program guide to the BWS EPG document. When the link information of the BWS EPG document offered to the terrestrial DMB terminal is selected by a user, the terrestrial DMB system provides the connected broadcasting program to the terrestrial DMB terminal.
