Abstract: Provided are an optical fiber preform and a fabrication method for the same using a VAD method, which manufactures a uniform, dense, and high-quality optical fiber preform and enables production and supply of an economic optical fiber preform due to the simplified process. The optical fiber preform using a VAD method comprises: a core(10) through which a light passes; a clad of a porous structure(30) that surrounds the core(10); and an outermost clad(70) that surrounds the outer surface of the clad(30) and is formed by a VAD method. The method for fabricating the optical fiber preform comprises the steps of: forming the core(10) through which a light passes and the clad(30) surrounding the core(10); and obtaining the optical fiber preform by forming the outermost clad(70) on the outer surface of the clad(30) using a VAD method.
