    Abstract: An apparatus and a method for testing AP/AT modems of a high-speed portable Internet system are provided to test receiver modems of the AP/AT by generating transmitter signals of an OFDMA type and transmitting the generated transmitter signal to receiver modems of the AP/AT, and test transmitter modems of the AP/AT by receiving and analyzing signals outputted from the transmitter modems of the AP/AT, thereby testing both of AP/AT modems in the high-speed portable Internet system. A simulation tester(210) generates a transmitter signal of an OFDMA(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) type which will be respectively transmitted to receiver modems(300) of the AP and AT, receives and analyzes a receiver signal outputted from transmitter modems(300) of the AP and AT, and generates plural control commands for the transmitter signal and the receiver signal. A test board(220) transmits each transmitter signal to the corresponding receiver modem(300) based on the control command, and transmits the each receiver signal to the simulation tester(210).

    Abstract: An apparatus for acquiring initial frame timing at a terminal of an OFDMA(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Access) mobile communication system is provided to acquire the initial frame timing by using high transmission power. A normalization unit(520) calculates and normalizes power of samples of received signals. A cross power calculation unit(530) obtains products of the samples of the received signals and calculates cross power by using absolute values of the products. A divider unit(540) divides the cross power of the cross power calculation unit by the normalized value of the normalization unit. A peak value detection unit(550) detects and outputs the sample having the maximum value of the outputs of the divider unit with respect to the samples of the received signals within a particular window block. The next sample of the sample outputted from the peak value detection unit is set as a starting point.
