Abstract: A medical dressing (100) with a dressing body (102) and a flap (104). The flap can include a fixed end (120) coupled to the dressing body, and a free end (122) movable with respect to the dressing body between a first position and a second position in which the free end is positioned in overlapping relationship with the dressing body. A second major surface (116) of at least the free end of the flap can be configured to be secured to the dressing body, and the flap can be located toward a proximal end of the dressing body, such that a distal portion of the dressing body is free of the flap. Abstract: The present disclosure provides an adhesive composition including a silicone-based adhesive and cellulose nanocrystals dispersed in the silicone-based adhesive. The present disclosure also provides an article including a substrate and a layer of the adhesive composition adhered to the substrate. Further, the present disclosure provides a method of making an adhesive composition. The method comprises mixing cellulose nanocrystals in a silicone-based adhesive to disperse the cellulose nanocrystals. The present disclosure additionally provides a method of making an article including disposing a layer of the adhesive composition on a substrate. The presence of the cellulose nanocrystals advantageously increases the water uptake capacity of the silicone-based adhesive while maintaining acceptable adhesive performance.

Abstract: A method of making a silicone gel adhesive is described comprising providing an acrylic polymer, the acrylic polymer comprising at least 50 wt.-% of polymerized units of C1-C32 (meth)acrylate ester monomer; providing at least one non-functional polydiorganosiloxane, hydroxy-functional polydiorganosiloxane, or a mixture thereof; combining the acrylic polymer and polydiorganosiloxane into a mixture; coating the mixture onto a substrate, and subjecting the mixture to radiation thereby crosslinking the mixture. Also described is a silicone gel adhesive comprising a crosslinked material at least one non-functional polydiorganosiloxane, hydroxy-functional polydiorganosiloxane, or a mixture thereof; and an acrylic polymer comprising at least 50 wt.-% of polymerized units of alkyl (meth)acrylate monomers and a gel content of at least 20 wt.-%. Also described is a medical article or intermediate thereof, comprising a layer of the silicone gel adhesive described herein adhered to a substrate; and methods of adhering a medical article.

Abstract: Adhesive articles that include a substrate and a silicone adhesive are disclosed. The articles also include a polymer containing poly(propylene oxide) units and optionally poly(ethylene oxide) units and having a number average molecular weight of at least 1000 grams per mole. The polymer may either be incorporated into the substrate or may be used as a primer on the substrate. If the polymer includes poly(ethylene oxide) units, the copolymer typically has a weight ratio of poly(ethylene oxide) to poly(propylene oxide) of up to 3:1, or if the copolymer has a number average molecular weight of at least 10,000 grams per mole, the weight ratio of poly(ethylene oxide) to poly(propylene oxide) is up to 2:1. Methods of making the adhesive articles are also disclosed.
