Abstract:
The invention relates to a fiber optic device for use in a telecommunications cabinet having a splitter mounting area (103) and a separate connector storage area (118), the fiber optic device comprising a splitter module (202) that can be releasably mounted at a splitter mounting area (103) ofthe cabinet, the module including a splitter that connects a first cable (104) to a plurality of second cables (114), the second cables (114) having ends terminated by fiber optic connectors (180); and an integrally molded connector holder unit (122) that is separate from the splitter module (202) and that can be releasably mounted at the connector storage area, the integrally molded connector holder unit (122) releasably holding a plurality of the fiber optic connectors (180), the fiber optic connectors (180) including polished end faces, and wherein when the fiber optic connectors (180) are held by the integrally molded connector holder unit (122) the polished end faces are enclosed and protected by either: a) separate dust caps; or b) closed-ended openings of the integrally molded connector holder unit (122).
Abstract:
Abstract:
A fiber distribution system includes one or more fiber distribution hubs (FDHs) that provide an interface at a termination panel between incoming fibers routed from a central office and outgoing fibers routed to network subscribers. Termination modules can be incrementally added to the termination panel. The FDH can include one or more optical splitter modules that split an optical signal into two or more signals. The optical splitter modules can be incrementally added along with one or more storage modules. The subscriber termination panel, optical splitters, and storage modules can be provided on a swing frame.
Abstract:
A mounting fixture for mounting a piece of telecommunications equipment (100) within an underground vault (102) is disclosed. The mounting fixture includes a frame structure (304) configured to be mounted to an upper edge of an open end of a vault. The mounting fixture also includes a can structure (302) for receiving the piece of telecommunications equipment. The can structure includes a closed end, an open end, and a sidewall extending between the closed end and the open end, the can structure being mounted to the frame structure. A cover including a top end and a skirt portion extending downwardly from the top end is slidably received within the can structure, the skirt portion sized to fit around the piece of telecommunications equipment and sized to fit within the sidewall of the can structure, the top end of the cover forming a water tight seal with the top end of the can structure.
Abstract:
A telecommunications connection cabiner (100) including an excess fiber storage area (118). The excess fiber storage area (118) including a bulkhead (124) for receiving fiber connector holders (122) for protecting the connectors (182) terminating the excess fibers from contamination. The telecommunications connection cabinet (100) also comprises a fiber optic splitter (102) receiving a first fiber optic cable (104) and splitting an optical signal carried by the cable into a plurality of fiber distribution cables (114), each fiber distribution cable (114) terminated by a fiber optic connector (180) having a polished end face (182).
