Abstract: Disclosed is a docking station 600 that can mount an electronic device, such as a tablet computer. The docking station having a body 640 with a recessed region 614 in its upper surface and an aperture 616 formed through the body from the recessed region towards the bottom of the body. The aperture is sized to receive a cable assembly that connects the electronic device to the docking station. The recess may be shaped and sized to fit the electronic device such that the top of the device is flush with the edges of the recess. The docking station may be sloped upwards form the front to the back. The docking station may have addition recesses 620 to receive stands for additional devices, the recesses having notches that engage coupling portions of the stand. The docking station may be part of a digital signage system comprising the docking station and the electronic device.

Abstract: A locking electrical plug connector 400 comprises: plural conductive pins; a locking mechanism whose locking portion (e.g. hook) engages an electrical receptacle connector 600; and an access pathway 408 (e.g. hole, aperture, etc.) that exposes the locking mechanism such that an external unlocking tool can be inserted into the access pathway to release the locking portion from the receptacle connector 600. In a separate embodiment, a cable 312 for power transmission and transmission of a security signal comprises plural electrical elements and three connectors 302, 304, 306. The first connector 302 (e.g. 30-pin male plug connector) is configured to interface with a portable electronic device. The second connector 304 (e.g. RJ-11 connector) is connected to the first connector 302 via at least one of the electrical elements and is configured for transmission of a security signal via at least one of the electrical elements. The third connector 306 (e.g. USB connector) is also connected to the first connector 302 via at least another one of the electrical elements and is configured for power transmission.
