Abstract:
An electronic device with a display and a touch - sensitive surface concurrently displays a first text entry area and an integrated input area, the integrated input area including a left portion and a right portion of a split keyboard and a center portion in between the left portion and the right portion. A first contact at a location that corresponds to the center portion of the integrated input area and movement of the first contact is detected. The integrated input area is moved when the movement of the first contact exceeds a first movement threshold. A second contact, distinct from the first contact, at a location that corresponds to the split keyboard and movement of the second contact is detected. The integrated input area is moved when the movement of the second contact exceeds a second movement threshold, the second movement threshold being greater than the first movement threshold.
Abstract:
Computing equipment may display data items in a list on a touch screen display. The computing equipment may use the touch screen display to detect touch gestures. A user may select a data item using a touch gesture such as a tap gesture. In response, the computing equipment may display a selectable option. When the option is displayed, movable markers may be placed in the list. The markers can be dragged to new locations to adjust how many of the data items are selected and highlighted in the list. Ranges of selected items may be merged by moving the markers to unify separate groups of selected items. A region that contains multiple selectable options may be displayed adjacent to a selected item. The selectable options may correspond to different ways to select and deselect items. Multifinger swipe gestures may be used to select and deselect data items.
Abstract:
In accordance with some embodiments, a computer-implemented text selection method is performed using an electronic device having a touch-sensitive display. The method can include displaying text on the touch screen display; detecting a text selection initiation gesture with the touch screen display; and in response to the text selection initiation gesture, inserting a text selection area bounded by a first endpoint located in the text at a first location and a second endpoint in the text at a second location. First and second endpoints can be moved by performing further gestures on the touch-sensitive display. Furthermore, word processing functions can be performed on the text located in the text selection area.
Abstract:
An electronic device with a display and a touch - sensitive surface concurrently displays a keyboard and one or more text entry areas. A keyboard may be split with an arrangement of keys. A keyboard may be split and characters may be displayed in a first and a second text entry area. An input area with a keyboard may be moved. An input area may be reconfigured.
Abstract:
Methods and graphical user interfaces for editing on a portable multifunction device with a touch screen display are disclosed. While displaying an application interface of an application, the device detects a multitouch edit initiation gesture on the touch screen display. In response to detection of the multitouch edit initiation gesture, the device displays a plurality of user-selectable edit option icons in an area of the touch screen display that is independent of a location of the multitouch edit initiation gesture. The device also displays a start point object and an end point object to select content displayed by the application in the application interface.
Abstract:
An electronic device with a display and a touch - sensitive surface displays a first keyboard on the display, the first keyboard comprising a first plurality of keys. A key activation gesture at a first a first time is detected at a location on the touch - sensitive surface that corresponds to a location of a first key in the first keyboard. In response to detecting the key activation gesture at the first time, the first key is activated. One or more contacts on the touch sensitive surface are detected at a second time after the first time, the one or more contacts corresponding to a keyboard selection gesture. In response to detecting the one or more contacts that correspond to the keyboard selection gesture at the second time after the first time, the first keyboard is replaced with a second keyboard when the second time exceeds a predefined period of time after the first time and the display of the first keyboard is maintained when the second time is less than the predefined period of time after the first time.
Abstract:
An electronic device detects a contact associated with a focus selector that controls movement of a respective user interface object; and while continuously detecting the contact, the device detects first movement of the contact. In response to detecting the first movement of the contact, 5 the device moves the focus selector and the respective user interface object, and determines an intensity of the contact. The device detects second movement of the contact and in response to detecting the second movement of the contact: when the contact meets respective intensity criteria, the device moves the focus selector and the user interface object; and when the contact does not meet the respective intensity criteria, the device moves the focus selector without 0 moving the user interface object.
Abstract:
A device with a touch-sensitive surface and sensors to detect intensity of contacts with the touch-sensitive surface, displays a user interface object; detects a contact having an intensity above an object-selection threshold; and detects movement of the contact that corresponds to a preliminary portion of a gesture for performing an operation corresponding to the user interface object. The device detects a reduction in intensity of the contact below an object release threshold. In response to detecting the reduction in intensity below the object-release threshold: in accordance with a determination that the movement meets predefined operation performance criteria, the device performs the operation and generates a first tactile output and in accordance with a determination that the movement does not meet the predefined operation-performance criteria, the device forgoes performance of the operation and generates a second tactile output different from the first tactile output.
Abstract:
An electronic device, with a touch-sensitive surface and a display, includes one or more sensors to detect intensity of contacts with the touch-sensitive surface. The device detects a contact on the touch-sensitive surface while a focus selector corresponding to the contact is at a respective location on the display associated with additional information not initially displayed on the display. While the focus selector is at the respective location, upon determining that the contact has an intensity above a respective intensity threshold before a predefined delay time has elapsed with the focus selector at the respective location, the device displays the additional information associated with the respective location without waiting until the predefined delay time has elapsed; and upon determining that the contact has an intensity below the respective intensity threshold, the device waits until the predefined delay time has elapsed to display the additional information associated with the respective location.
Abstract:
Abstract An electronic device with a touch-sensitive surface, a display, and one or more sensors to detect intensity of contacts, detects a contact, determines a location and intensity of the contact on the touch-sensitive surface, and displays a response, the response being based at least in part on an input-output mapping of intensity to response at the contact location. The input-output mapping including a first input-output relationship between intensity and response over a first range of intensity values, a second input-output relationship between intensity and response over a second range of intensity values, and a transitional intensity value where the first range of intensity values meets or overlaps the second range of intensity values. At the transitional intensity value, the first input-output relationship has a first rate of change, the second input-output relationship has a second rate of change, and the first rate is substantially the same as the second rate.
