Abstract: A method may comprise: commanding, by a processor, a lighting system to generate a first desired effect in accordance with a first spectral weighting mode; determining, by the processor, a first optimized predetermined variable within a first predetermined domain to generate the desired effect based on the first spectral weighting mode; commanding, by the processor, the lighting system to transition from the first desired effect to a second desired effect, the second desired effect in accordance with a second spectral weighting mode; and determining by the processor, a second optimized predetermined variable within a second predetermined domain to generate the second desired effect based on the second spectral weighting mode, the first optimized predetermined variable being different from the second optimized predetermined variable.

Abstract: An integrated aircraft lighting and display panel includes high-density arrays of micro-scale light-emitting diodes (LED) set into arrays (e.g., linear, two-dimensional, freeform) to form tiles, the LED tiles combined and interconnected to form LED panels conformable to any interior surface within an aircraft cabin. The PCB and LED arrays may be set into structural layers corresponding to overhead panels, side panels, bin panels, divider panels, doorway panels, galley and monument panels, or other interior structural panels of the aircraft. The LED arrays may be activated by an onboard video processor and local panel-level controllers to provide cabin lighting, indicate aircraft signage, display high-resolution image or video graphics, or simultaneously blend any combination thereof, either on command or in response to detected conditions.

Abstract: A clamp for holding a twisted lighting unit includes a body member having a slot extending from its top wall to its base. The slot extends from an end wall to a side wall to create a passage for receiving a twisted portion of a lighting unit. Parallel surfaces are provided over a portion of the width of the passage to hold the lighting unit in its intended position. Various curves in the slot receive the twist itself and facilitate insertion of the clamp on the lighting unit and reduce the strain experienced along the edge of the lighting unit.

Abstract: A light-emitting diode (“LED”) lighting unit includes an operational, a sense resistor electrically connected to the input of the operational amplifier, a first field effect transistor (“FET”) whose gate is electrically connected to the output such that the input voltage at the gate of the first FET rises and falls with the output voltage, a second FET whose gate is electrically connected to the output such that the input voltage at the gate of the second FET rises and falls with the output voltage, and a string of LED lights connected such that when the voltage across the string drops below a level to operate, the voltage across a sense resistor drops, causing the operational amplifier to increase its output until the input voltage at the gate of the second FET increases allowing one bank of LED lights to operate.

Abstract: A system and appertaining method calibrate a color LED light unit comprising at least first-, second-, and third-color LEDs, comprising: a) defining a target color on a color map to calibrate; b) selecting initial calibration coefficients associated with the target color; c) storing the initial or updated calibration coefficients in a non-volatile memory of the light unit; d) controlling the light unit to drive the LEDs to attempt to emit the target color, producing an attempted color, utilizing the calibration coefficients; e) measuring the attempted color to determine if it matches the target color within a predefined tolerance; f) if the attempted color matches the target color, then terminating the method; g) if the attempted color does not match the target color, then performing the following; h) selecting a color component; i) adapting at least one calibration coefficient associated with the selected color component; and j) performing (c)-(i) again.
