Abstract:
The polymeric composition of the present invention is a polyolefin composition comprising (percent by weight): 1) 10-60% of a copolymer of propylene and hexene-1 wherein said copolymer comprises from 0.2 to 10 % of recurring units derived from hexene-1; and 2) 10-85% of a propylene polymer selected from propylene homopolymer and a polymer of propylene with 0.1-10% of an α-olefin selected from ethylene, a C 4 -C 10 a-olefin, hexene-1 excluded, and a mixture thereof, said propylene polymer being insoluble in xylene at ambient temperature in an amount over 85% and having a Polydispersity Index ranging from 3 to 20; and 3) 5-30% of a copolymer of ethylene with a C 3 -C 10 α-olefin and optionally a diene, having an ethylene content ranging from 15 to 60% and an intrinsic viscosity value of at least 1 dl/g. Pipe systems and sheets produced from said composition show an optimal balance of mechanical properties.

A polymer filament comprising a polyolefin composition which comprises at least 10% by weight of one or more copolymer(s) (I) of propylene with one or more comonomers selected from ethylene, C4-C10 α-olefins and their combinations, said copolymer or copolymers (I) having MFR from 0.5 to 10 g/10 min. and containing units deriving from the said comonomers in a total amount of from 0.5 to 25% by weight with respect to the total amount of all momoner units in the copolymer, provided that, in the absence of comonomer units deriving from C6-C10 α-olefins, the amount of comonomer units deriving from ethylene or C4-C5 α-olefins or their combinations is at least 2.5% by weight.

A polyolefin composition comprising: A) 20-95 wt% of a propylene homo-polymer or a crystalline co-polymer of propylene with ethylene and/or an alpha -olefin having 4-10 carbon atoms, containing 85wt% or more of propylene, having an isotactic index equal to or higher than 80; B) 5-80 wt% of a copolymer of butene-1 with ethylene and/or an alpha -olefin having 3-10 carbon atoms having: - a content of butene-1 derived units of 80wt% wt or more, - molecular weight distribution Mw/Mn of less than 3. - flexural modulus of 60 MPa or less. Fibres and spun bond (woven non woven), disposable sanitary items (e.g. diapers) thereof.

Pipe systems having at least one layer comprising a semi-crystalline random polymer of propylene and 0.2 to 5 wt% 1-hexen and optionally a recurring unit selected from ethylene and a C4-C10 α-olefin in an amount from more than 0 to 9 % by moles. The polymer exhibits broad molecular weight distribution, in terms of the ratio of weight average molecular weight to numeric average molecular weight formula (I), ranging from 5 to 11, molecular weight distribution of monomodal type and hexen-1 content in the fraction with an intrinsic viscosity of equal to or higher than 3.3 dl/g lower than the hexen-1 content in the fraction with an intrinsic viscosity of less than 3.3 dl/g.

Polypropylene pipes (parts by weight): 1) 100 parts of a crystalline random copolymer of propylene with 1-15% by weight of a C4-C10 α-olefin or a crystalline random copolymer of propylene with 1-15% by weight of C4-C10 α-olefin and with 1-7% by weight of ethylene 2) 0 to 70 parts of an elastomeric polyolefin selected from the group consisting of: (a) a copolymer of ethylene with propylene and, optionally a diene, having an ethylene content of from 17 to 45 wt% and an propylene content from 55 to 83 wt%; (b) a copolymer of ethylene with a C3-C10 α-olefin having an ethylene/C3-C10 α-olefin weight ratio of from 29 to 86 wt% (13C-NMR analysis) and having an Mw/Mn ratio of less than 3.5; and 3) 0-30 parts of a polymer of ethylene having a melting temperature over 120 °C and intrinsic viscosity of from 2 to 6 dL/g; with the proviso that when the elastomeric polyolefin is present, the polymer of ethylene is at least 12 parts based on 100 parts of the crystalline random propylene copolymer (1) and that at least one of the layer made of the said polymer propylene composition is substantially free from random copolymers of propylene with 15 wt% or less of ethylene as the sole comonomer.
