Abstract: The invention relates to an optical recording medium of a base material and a light-absorbing layer, consisting substantially of a soluble mixture of a thermoplastic binder and at least one pigment, the thermoplastic binder being a phenol-aldehyde resin which is soluble in alcohols having a boiling point of less than 200 DEG C and which has an average molecular weight greater than 300.
