Abstract: The phthalocyanines are prepd. in pigment form by reaction of 1,3-diimino-isoindolines with salts of divalent metals in OH- gp. contg. organic solvents in the presence of opt. substd. benzonitriles and/or aliphatic nitriles. Abstract: Orange to blue-toned red pigments, for dyeing lacquers and resins, and for prepn. of printing inks, have formula (I): (where R is m- or p-phenylene and D is a residue of a diazotisable aromatic amine, esp. (I) are pref. prepd. by (a) reacting an acid chloride of formula (II), with a triamine O=P-(RNH2)3, in 3 : 1 mol. ratio; or (b) by diazo coupling 3 moles amine D-NH2 on 1 mole of beta-hydroxynaphthoic acid anilide of formula (III).
