Abstract: A printer apparatus comprises: a holding circuit to hold a pattern of a character, a figure, or the like in a form such that it can be enlarged or reduced into an arbitrary size; a converter to convert the pattern of the character, figure, or the like which was held in the holding circuit into a printable dot image of an arbitrary size; and a forming circuit to form a reduced dot image of the character, figure, or the like by the converter in accordance with reduction ratios of a character pitch and a line pitch upon reduction printing in the printer emulation mode. With this apparatus, the reduced print image which accurately conforms with the reduction ratios can be obtained.

Abstract: A data processing apparatus comprises: a memory for storing image information as bit image data; a data converter for overlapping the bit image data with another data in the memory; and a control unit having a microprocessor for instructing the operation of the data converter, in which the data converter is activated by an activating order and performs the overlapping operation while the control unit is executing another order. The data converter has a data shifting circuit to shift the foregoing data by only desired bits and overlap it on the bit image data. The overlapping operation of the data into the memory and the clearing operation of the memory can be synchronously performed. With this apparatus, a memory having a large capacity can be effectively used and the burden on the CPU can be reduced upon writing of the data into the memory and a high data processing speed is obtained.

SOLUTION: When a printer receives a status request from an external device in (S501), whether or not the status information is broadcast on an IEEE 1394 bus network is discriminated (S502). When the status information is not broadcast, an isochronous resource manager is accessed to acquire an idle isochronous channel ID and a required pass band (S503). The status information is given to the acquired isochronous channel ID (S504), and a status request source is informed of the isochronous channel ID (S502). In the case that the status information has already been broadcast in the S502, the processing proceeds to the S505 without any processing and the status information request source is informed of the channel ID.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily construct an image processing system executing various image processing functions by judging the class of an external equipment so as to recognize the form of a system and controlling data transfer with the external equipment based on the recognizing result. SOLUTION: First external I/F 104 Constituted as bi-directional parallel I/F is connected with an external equipment 500 through an external I/F connector 305 to be communicable. On the other hand, second external I/F 105 is connected with an external equipment 501 through an external I/F connector 304 to be communicable. In this case a main control part 202 judges the class of the external equipments 500 and 501 connected to the plural external I/F 104 and 105 for bi-directional communication with external equipments and recognizes the form of the system. Then based on the recognizing result, data transfer with each external equipments 500 and 501 is controlled. This is controlled by executing a control program stored in ROM 203 and a control program loaded on RAM 206 from a recording medium by the main control part 202.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transfer print information to respective image recording resources through a common memory at low cost by determining the order of transfer of respective separated pieces of print information to a printer according to combination information and transferring the respective pieces of print information to the printer. SOLUTION: When a CPU 1 separates the generated print information by the respective image recording resources (LBP print part 102 and IJ print part 103) according to the combination information that an interface circuit(PRTC) 8 acquires from the printer 101, the order of transfer of the separated pieces of print information to the printer 101 is determined according to the combination information. In the determined transfer order, the PRTC 8 transfers the respective pieces of print information to the printer 101 and the generated print information is transferred to the respective image recording resources through the common memory (expansion area of RAM 2) with specific capacity. Thus, a control means transfers the respective pieces of print information to the printing device in the determined transfer order to transfer the generated print information to the respective recording resources through the common memory with the specific capacity at low cost.
