Abstract:
Tooth-whitening films comprising a hydratable polymer and a whitening agent are disclosed in which the films have a hydrophobic coating on one surface and a tooth-adherent coating on the opposing surface. Flavorings can also be included in the hydratable polymer portion of the film or in either the hydrophobic coating or the tooth-adherent coating. Tooth-whitening methods that use the films are also disclosed. The hydratable polymer preferably is a polyethylene oxide.
Abstract:
Described herein are packages for storing and dispensing multi-part tooth whitening formulations, wherein the contents of the parts are mixed, a peracid and/or dioxirane whitening agent is formed. Particular multi-part tooth whitening formulations using this principle and methods of use thereof are also provided.
Abstract:
Described herein are tooth whitening strips comprising an hydratable adhesive film having a granular bleaching ingredient attached thereto, wherein upon hydration, the granular bleaching ingredient releases hydrogen peroxide which is used by an enzyme catalyst having perhydrolytic activity to enzymatically produce an effective amount of peracid bleaching agent from an acyl donor substrate. Methods of making and use the tooth whitening strips are also provided.
Abstract:
A peroxide containing dual component dentifrice composition providing enhanced whitening efficacy and minimal gingival irritation and tooth sensitivity, the composition being comprised of a separately maintained first aqueous dentifrice component containing a peroxide compound and an abrasive system compatible with the peroxide and a second aqueous dentifrice component containing a desensitizing compound and an abrasive that is incompatible with peroxide compound whereby when the components are mixed and combined for the first time and exposed to the surface of teeth, an enhanced whitening effect is obtained with minimal tooth sensitivity and gum irritation.
Abstract:
A two component efficacious dentifrice composition, having a first alkali metal bicarbonate containing dentifrice component and a second acid-containing dentifrice component; the first and second components being separated prior to use; wherein, the pH of the two components when combined upon application to the teeth is between about 6.0 and about 7.1; whereby, the dentifrice provides enhanced removal of plaque growth and a tingly mouth feel.
