Abstract: End marker functionality may be provided in mobile networks having mobile user planes configured with segment routing for IPv6 (SRv6), especially suitable for 5G network migration. For example, a base station may receive an SRv6 control message from a user plane function (UPF) which carries data traffic of a data session for the UE. The base station may perform a function associated with a segment identifier (SID) identified in a segment routing header (SRH) of the SRv6 control message. The function may be an end marker handling function associated with an end marker SID. Performing the end marker handling function may cause the base station to generate a tunneling protocol message (e.g. according to GPRS tunneling protocol or GTP) comprising an end marker message and send the tunneling protocol message comprising the end marker message for receipt by the target base station.

Abstract: Provided herein are techniques to facilitate multi-level performance tracing for a mobile network environment. In one instance, a method may include obtaining, by a mobile network, a trigger from an enterprise to initiate an underlay-level trace for a wireless device of the enterprise, wherein the trigger includes a correlation identifier that correlates the underlay-level trace with an enterprise-level trace for the wireless device and providing the underlay-level trace for a session of the wireless device by including a first trace flag for IP packets for the session and including a second trace flag for encapsulations of the IP packets for the session in which the first and second trace flag are unique to the session of the wireless device and enable elements of the mobile network to provide underlay trace information for the underlay-level trace for the session of the wireless device to a trace.

Abstract: Techniques are described for extending a cellular quality of service bearer through an enterprise fabric network. In one example, a method obtaining, by a first switch of a network, a packet to be delivered to a client connected to the network via a cellular access point; identifying quality of service (QoS) bearer information associated with the packet, wherein the QoS bearer information is associated with a radio access bearer for the client and the QoS bearer information comprises a bearer indicator and a QoS class identifier; providing a fabric tunnel encapsulation for the packet, wherein the bearer indicator and the QoS class identifier are included within the fabric tunnel encapsulation of the packet; and forwarding the packet within the fabric tunnel encapsulation toward a second switch of the network via a fabric tunnel, wherein the cellular access point is connected to the network via the second switch.

Abstract: An approach to automatically provision a data service name (APN or DNN) when an endpoint device connects to a mobile network is described. A methodology includes receiving from an endpoint device a first request to connect to a mobile network, the first request including an identifier of the endpoint device and a default data service name, responsive to detecting the default data service name, determining, from the identifier of the endpoint device, a group to which the endpoint device belongs along with a corresponding group identifier for the group, querying a repository with the group identifier, and receiving, in response, an assigned data service name that is associated with the group identifier, providing the assigned data service name to the endpoint device, and receiving from the endpoint device a second request to connect to the mobile network, the second request including the assigned data service name.

Abstract: Presented herein are techniques associated with replicating an OpenRoaming™ policy federation in a Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) network environment. For example, techniques herein provide a roaming policy federation architecture for a 3GPP network environment. In one example a method is provided that may include encoding at least one multi-bit roaming policy for an identity provider and a plurality of bit-wise combinatorial permutations of the at least one multi-bit roaming policy within each of a plurality of multi-bit 3GPP broadcast identifiers, wherein the at least one multi-bit roaming policy includes bit-wise roaming policy information for the identity provider and configuring the multi-bit 3GPP broadcast identifiers for a mobile device associated with the identity provider, wherein the multi-bit 3GPP broadcast identifiers indicate that the mobile device is to connect to a visited radio access network associated with a local Internet Protocol (IP) access service or a home routed access service.

Abstract: In a mobile network, an identity of a security group associated with user equipments (UEs) may be obtained. A segment route (SR) path for session communications in the mobile network for the UEs may be selected based on the identity of the security group. The SR path may be one of a plurality of SR paths in a transport network used by the mobile network and defined at least in part by one or more segment IDs (SIDs). An identity of a virtual network associated with the security group may also be obtained. The selected SR path and the identity of the virtual network may be provisioned in one or more routers of the transport network, such that IP messages communicated for the UEs in the mobile network are forwarded via the selected SR path and (at least ultimately) via the tunnel associated with the security group.
