Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying ε-caprolactone reduced in acid value and moisture content. SOLUTION: A low-boiling fraction contained in a reactional solution is distilled off in the first distillation column to provide the first bottom liquid, which is then fed to the second distillation column having a concentrating section of three or more stages to distill off a low-boiling fraction from the column top of the second distillation column. A high-boiling substance is then taken out of the column bottom of the second distillation column to take out ε- caprolactone from any stage within the range of 30-90% of the number of stages from the feed stage of the second distillation column to the topmost stage from the side of the column bottom.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a process for producing a diisocyanate compound without using phosgene during the production processes. CONSTITUTION:The production process comprise the steps of reacting carbon monoxide, oxygen and methanol with each other to produce dimethyl carbonate; (6) reacting the dimethyl carbonate with a diamine in the presence of an alkali catalyst to produce an urethane compound; and (c) pyrolyzing the urethane compound in the presence of a catalyst under a vacuum of 1-700Torr to produce the diisocyanate compound. Since the produced diisocyanate compound is substantially free from chlorine, the materials of instillations in the production processes can be selected from a variety of fields.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable economical production of the compound which is used as a starting substance for polyurethane or the like without use of phosgen by pyrolyzing a urethane compound in a solvent of a high boiling point in the presence of a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A urethane compound is pyrolyzed in a high-boiling solvent such as m-terphenyl in the presence of a metal or metal compound catalyst selected from Mn, Mo, W, and Zn at 150 to 300 deg.C under a reduced pressure of 1 to 700Torr. At that time, the catalyst is mixed with methanol and the objective diisocyanate and fed con-tinuously to the column zone in the reactive distillation column. The amount of the catalyst is preferably in the range from 0.005 to 5wt.% based on the solvent, and the methanol is 0.2 to 1,000 fold weight of the catalyst, while the diisocyanate is 0.001 to 1,000 fold weight of the methanol.

CONSTITUTION: In the epoxidization of a compound with carbon-carbon double bonds with a percarboxylic acid, the concentration of carboxylic acids in the system is kept less than 2.0mol/kg, preferably less than 1.7mol/kg by diluting the reaction system with only organic solvents to inhibit side-reactions. Thus, the yield is increased and the installation and operations of the reaction can be simplified. The amount of the percarboxylic acid used is preferably 0.8W1.5 equivalent based on the double bonds and the reaction temperature is preferably 10W50°C.
