    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the unsaturated straight-chain alcohols from unsaturated straight-chain aldehydes having a plurality of unsaturated bonds at a high conversion rate and with a high selectivity. SOLUTION: In the presence of a catalyst containing at least one species of metals selected from the group III, IV, IX, XIII and XIV of the periodic table and a secondary alcohol the corresponding unsaturated alcohols are prepared by selectively reducing the formyl group of unsaturated aldehydes having a plurality of unsaturated bonds without reducing the unsaturated carbon - carbon bonds. As the unsaturated aldehydes, C5-12 alkadienals (2,4-hexadienal and the like) can be employed.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an alicyclic diisocyanate composition for extremely activating a urethanization reaction, capable of providing a polyurethane having improved weather resistance, corrosion resistance, etc., by including an alicyclic diisocyanate compound containing a Lewis acid having low reactivity with an isocyanate group as a main component. SOLUTION: This composition comprises an alicyclic diisocyanate compound of formula II (e.g. 3-isocyanatomethyl-5,5-dimethylcyclohexyl isocyanate) obtained by reacting a dialkyl carbonate prepared without using phosgene with an alicyclic diamine of formula I (Y1 is a bifunctional saturated hydrocarbon, preferably a 1-10C alkylene) containing a Lewis acid (preferably a dialkyltin compound) as a main component. The amount of the Lewis acid added to the compound of formula II is preferably 1×10-8 to 1×10-2 equivalent based on 1 equivalent of NCO group. Consequently a polyurethane having excellent physical properties can be supplied.

CONSTITUTION: An aliphatic aldehyde (e.g. acetaldehyde) and/or ketone (e.g. actone) is condensed with ammonia in a gas phase using a zeolite having 0.5-1.0g/ml, preferably 0.6-0.9g/ml density after molding into pellets and 5.0-9.0 control index as a catalyst. Furthermore, the catalyst is preferably obtained by mixing zeolite powder with alumina, silica, diatomaceous earth used as a binder and molding the mixture into cylindrical pellets by a tablet press while controlling molding pressure.

CONSTITUTION:In the method for producing the ethylamine from acetaldehyde as a raw material, a solution system (a prereactor system) for aminating only ethanol is set to the front of a main solution system for aminating the acetaldehyde. The ethanol, ammonia in an amount not exceeding the whole molar number of the fed ethyl groups, preferably 1/3 to 10 times the molar number of the raw material ethanol, more preferably 1/2 to 3 times, and hydrogen gas in an amount not exceeding the molar number of the raw material acetaldehyde, more preferably 0.5-1 times the molar number of the raw material acetaldehyde, are charged in the prereactor system to aminate the ethanol. The reaction gas is subsequently introduced into a reactor for aminating the acetaldehyde or into the arbitrary site of a gas circulation system.

CONSTITUTION:An alcohol (e.g. methanol or ethanol) is reacted with carbon monoxide and oxygen in the presence of a bivalent copper salt (e.g. cupric acetate or cupric chloride) which is a weak acid salt and/or halide and an alkaline earth metal salt (e.g., chloride or acetate of beryllium, magnesium or calcium) which is a weak acid salt and/or halide as a catalyst to afford the aimed carbonic acid ester. A halide of a platinum group compound (e.g. ruthenium, rhodium or palladium), etc. preferably palladium salt may be used as the above-mentioned catalyst component. Since the ratio of dissolved copper is high and the catalyst is homogeneously dissolved in a reaction solution to enhance the reaction rate, the above-mentioned method is advantageous.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an adhesive composition having improved weathering resistance, corrosion resistance, and heat resistance by using an alicyclic polyisocyanate compound prepared from a dialkyl carbonate prepared by using substantially no phosgene in the course of the process and an alicyclic polyamine. SOLUTION: The alicyclic polyisocyanate compound is represented by formula I. The alicyclic polyamine is represented by formula II. In formulae I and II, Y1 is a divalent saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group. The alicyclic polyisocyanate compound is substantially free from a chlorine compound derived from phosgene and therefore exerts very little an adverse effect of a chlorine compound on properties. Dimethyl carbonate made from carbon monoxide and methanol is cheap and is desirable as the dialkyl carbonate. The alicyclic polyisocyanate compound which can be desirably used is exemplified by 3- isocyanatomethyl-5,5-dimethylcyclohexyl isocyanate.
