Abstract:
A system for detecting interactions between charged targets and analytes. The system includes a fluid channel, and a waveguide associated with the fluid channel. A detection region is associated with the waveguide, and a biasing element is operatively coupled to the detection region. The biasing element is adapted to electrically bias a portion of the waveguide at the detection region, and the charged targets are electrostatically bound to the detection region when the portion of the waveguide is electrically biased. An optical detector is adapted to detect optical changes from the detection region.
Abstract:
Various radio frequency identification (RFID) tags are described that dynamically vary their resonant frequency to reduce or eliminate the potential effects of electromagnetic “tag-to-tag” coupling. An RFID tag, for example, includes a main antenna tuned to a first resonant frequency, and switching circuitry that dynamically changes the resonant frequency of the main antenna. The switching circuitry may selectively couple electrical elements, such as capacitive elements, inductive elements, or combinations thereof, to vary the resonant frequency of the RFID tag. The RFID tag may include a sensing circuit that determines when to selectively couple the electrical element to the main antenna to adjust the resonant frequency of the main antenna.
Abstract:
A dynamic graphical information presentation is generated and overlaid onto a time-lapse video image sequence to form a combined graphical information and time-lapse photography presentation. The time-lapse photography video image sequence and dynamic graphical information presentation are preferably time synchronized in the combined presentation. For a weather presentation of past weather conditions, the time-lapse photography video image sequence may be a video image sequence of sky conditions, with the dynamic graphical information presentation generated based on weather conditions recorded for the same period of time from a weather information source. For a presentation of forecast weather conditions, the time-lapse photography video image sequence may be selected from a database of stored pre-recorded sequences, with the dynamic graphical information presentation derived from forecast weather condition information.
Abstract:
An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for making a motion based business decision. A motion module senses a component of motion such as acceleration or a derivative of acceleration. A log module calculates a motion summary from the motion component and stores the motion summary in a memory module. An analysis module receives the motion summary and makes a business decision based on the motion summary.
Abstract:
A method of identifying and expanding a database of potential employees from a predetermined pool of prescreened candidates supplied by the initiating entity. The predetermined pool being the first of infinite generations of prescreened candidates who may be rewarded for referring other qualified candidates. The initiating entity will create and maintain the screening criteria to minimize the number of unqualified resources and the costs associated with this number, and maximize the value of the resources expended on the recruitment endeavor. The resulting expanded database can be used to generate focus groups that may have similar interests based on parameters such as education, geographic location, economic status and other parameters.
Abstract:
One embodiment of a projector may include a light source that emits light and a gradient profile filter positioned to filter light emitted from the light source.
Abstract:
An upright wet extractor includes a base assembly, a manipulative handle pivotally attached to the base assembly, and a motor driven agitator brush. A cleaning solution dispensing tank is removably attached to the handle assembly by a pivotable latch member. In a floor cleaning mode, cleaning solution is selectively supplied by gravity from the dispensing tank to a floor cleaning spray nozzle through a supply tube which is controlled by a pinch valve. In an attachment hose cleaning mode, cleaning solution is selectively supplied by a motor driven pump from the dispensing tank to an attachment hose spray nozzle which is controlled by a trigger valve. A suction motor/fan assembly is carried by the base assembly which is selectively in fluid communication with a floor suction nozzle in the floor cleaning mode and an attachment hose suction nozzle when in the attachment hose cleaning mode. Conversion between the floor cleaning mode and the attachment hose cleaning mode is conveniently carried out by manual operation of a knob of multi-functional valve/switch assembly. The valve/switch assembly includes a valve member which diverts the flow of working air and a micro-switch which appropriately activates and deactivates the agitator brush motor and the pump motor. A recovery tank assembly which both separates liquid from air and stores the recovered liquid is removably secured within the base assembly below the suction pump and can be removed through the rear end of the base assembly. The suction motor/fan assembly includes a cooling fan which draws cooling air over both the pump motor and the motor of the suction motor/fan assembly.

Abstract:
Certain aspects of a method and system for compression and decompression for handling web content may include a communication system that comprises a server in a server computing cloud that coordinates operation of one or more set-top boxes. The server may be operable to receive a request to display one or more frames of web content from the one or more set-top boxes. The server may be operable to receive one or more parameters associated with the one or more frames of the requested web content from the one or more set-top boxes. The server may be operable to dynamically encode at least a portion of one or more frames of the requested web content into one or more color spaces based on the received one or more parameters.
Abstract:
A video stream demultiplexer receives video streams including a selected current content channel and one or more adjacent content channels. Time stamp management may be concurrently performed on the adjacent content channels while decoding the selected current content channel. Timing information such as Decoding Time Stamp, Presentation Time Stamp values, or random access points may be determined for pictures of the selected current content channel and the adjacent content channels. The determined timing information may be utilized to determine a Program Clock Reference value for the selected current channel and the adjacent channels. A timebase, derived from a PCR rate, may be determined for decoding the selected current content channel. An adjacent content channel, which is primed during decoding of the selected current content channel, may be directly decoded for display if selected.
