Abstract: A system may include a compressor, a heat exchanger, an expansion device, and first and second working fluid flow paths. The compressor may include a compression mechanism and a motor. The heat exchanger may receive compressed working fluid from the compressor. The expansion device may be disposed downstream of the heat exchanger. The first working fluid flow path may fluidly connect the heat exchanger and the expansion device. The second working fluid flow path may be disposed downstream of the heat exchanger and may fluidly connect the heat exchanger with the compressor. The second working fluid flow path may provide compressed working fluid to the compression mechanism and to the motor.

Abstract: A compressor includes first and second scroll members (76; 78), first and second bearing housings (14;16), and a motor assembly (20). The first scroll member (76) includes a first end plate (80) and a first spiral wrap (82) extending from the first end plate (80). The second scroll member (78) includes a second end plate (86) and a second spiral wrap (88) extending from the second end plate (86) and intermeshed with the first spiral wrap (82) to define compression pockets (122) therebetween. The first bearing housing (14) supports the first scroll member (76) for rotation about a first rotational axis (A1). The second bearing housing (16) supports the second scroll member (78) for rotation about a second rotational axis (A2) that is parallel to and offset from the first rotational axis (A1). The motor assembly (20) is disposed axially between the first and second bearing housings (14;16) and includes a rotor (100) attached to the first scroll member (76). The rotor (100) surrounds the first and second end plates (80;86).

Abstract: A light-weight, high-strength compressor component having at least one fluid delivery feature that is formed via additive manufacturing is provided. The component may have at least one interior region comprising a lattice structure that comprises a plurality of repeating cells. A solid surface is disposed over the lattice structure. The interior region comprising the lattice structure has at least one fluid delivery feature for permitting fluid flow through the body portion of the light-weight, high-strength compressor component. The fluid delivery feature may be a flow channel, a fluid delivery port, a porous fluid delivery feature, or the like that serves to transfer fluids through the component, such as refrigerant and/or lubricant oils. Methods of making such compressor components via additive manufacturing processes are also provided.

wherein working fluid exits the radially extending suction passage (1102) at a location (1106) that is disposed radially inward relative to the suction inlet opening (1094) such that windage produced by rotation of the first scroll member aids in forcing the working fluid radially outward toward the suction inlet opening (1094).-

The first suction inlet fitting (34) provides fluid to the first compression mechanism (18). The first discharge outlet fitting (38) receives fluid compressed by the first compression mechanism (18). The second suction inlet fitting (46) provides fluid to the second compression mechanism (25). The second discharge outlet fitting (50) receives fluid compressed by the second compression mechanism (25).

Abstract: A compressor includes orbiting and non-orbiting scrolls forming first and second fluid pockets therebetween. First and second ports are disposed in the non-orbiting scroll and radially spaced apart from each other. The first port communicates with the first pocket at a first radial position and the second port communicates with the second pocket at a second radial position. A blocking device is movable between a first position preventing communication between the ports and a fluid source and a second position allowing communication between the ports and the fluid source. The first and second pockets have first and second pressures, respectively. One of the pressures may have a disproportionate pressure change compared to the other of the pressures after at least one of the pockets communicates with the fluid source through at least one of the ports. The disproportionate pressure change biases the orbiting scroll relative to the non-orbiting scroll.
