Abstract: A method of controlling the operation of a communication system is described, where the system comprises a first entity 2 for sending a first data object 21 to a terminal device 4 and a second entity 3 for sending a second data object to the terminal device at the request 41 of the terminal device 4 . The communication system also comprises a data transfer entity 11 and a charging entity 5 . The data transfer entity 11 records charging relevant parameters related to the transfer of the first data object. It is proposed that the second entity 3 is controlled to output a predetermined triggering message to the data transfer entity 11 and/or charging entity 5 , where the operation of processing the charging relevant parameters in a charging procedure is postponed until the predetermined message is received.

Abstract: A technique for registering a device (10) with a rights issuer system (12) in a digital rights management (DRM) context is described. The device (10) is provided with DRM registration information that is required to use protected content. The DRM registration information is generated from rights issuer information on the one hand and device information on the other hand. The DRM registration technique described herein does not require an interactive registration protocol between a rights issuer server (12) and the device (10). Rather, the DRM registration information may be generated and transferred to the device (10) even if the device (10) is offline, inactive or switched-off.

Abstract: A technique is disclosed for transferring at least one of a media file and associated usage rights data from a first user unit ( 110 ) to a second user unit ( 120 ), wherein the media file is identifiable by a central interface ( 130 ) unit and includes at least one component of image data, audio data, and video data. Utilizing a communication link between the first and second user units ( 110, 120 ), at least one of the media file and the associated usage rights data is transferred from the first user unit to the second user unit, the access by the first user unit ( 110 ) to the media file is limited, and the second user unit ( 120 ) is provided access to the media file. Subsequently, at least one of the first and second user units ( 110, 120 ) is coupled over a communications network to the central interface unit ( 130 ) so that the transfer of at least one of the media file and its associated usage rights data from the first user unit ( 110 ) to the second user unit ( 120 ) may be logged.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for embedding and detecting a watermark in a digital audio signal. For embedding the watermark in the digital audio signal a modified-segment (S out (t) ) is created from a selected input-segment (s in (t) ) of the digital audio signal. The modified-segment (s out (t) ) is created such, that at least one of two sub-segments ((s sub , 1 (t) (s sub , 2 (t) ) of the input-segment (s in (t) ) is time-shifted (dt) such that in an overlapping zone (L ov ) a correlation value of the two sub-segments (s sub , 1 (t) , (s sub , 2 (t) ) is a maximum. The signal (s ov (t)) in the overlapping zone (L ov ) is then created as a weighted average of the two sub-segments ((s sub , 1 (t) , (s sub , 2 (t) ) in said overlapping zone. For detecting the embedded watermark in a received digital audio signal (x(t)), a first template-signal (h1 (t)) and a second template-signal (h2(t)) are generated. Then a first (c1) and a second (c2) correlation value are created by comparing the first (h1(t)) and second (h2(t)) template-signal with the received digital audio signal (x(t)). Finally, it is assumed that a watermark is included in the received digital audio signal, if the second correlation value (c2) is higher than the first correlation value (c1).

Abstract: A method for controlling the transmission of a media stream comprising a plurality of consecutive stream elements Is described. The method comprises the step of obtaining (32) a media description of the media stream, the media description indicating an initial element of the stream elements. A request for the initial stream element is sent (34) and a session control procedure is initiated (36) for a session. The media stream is associated (38) with the session in the session control procedure. The transmission of a subsequent element of the stream elements is controlled in accordance with a control rule of the session. Devices and further methods embodying the invention are also described.
