Abstract:
A network unit (3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9; 31) for use in a real-time communications network in which streams of data frames are transmitted to a plurality of receivers, said network unit being arranged to receive at least a first part of at least a first stream of data frames transmitted from at least a first content source (1) is described, said unit being characterized in that it comprises At least one buffer (Bl, B2; 33) arranged to store each data frame of a stream of data frames; A transmitting unit (35) arranged to communicate with at least one other network unit to transmit at least one data frame to another network unit; A receiving unit (37) arranged to receive from said other network unit at least one data frame belonging to the stream of data and store said data frame in the at least one buffer.
Abstract:
A multimedia messaging system for sending and receiving multimedia MMS messages. The MMS messages are sent to a MMS server and addressed to the recipient's MSISDN number. MMS server sends a notification to a PAP server that sends the notification as a WAP Push to the recipient mobile device telling the mobile device to retrieve the message. If the recipient mobile device is engaged in an on going or dedicated session with the Internet, the notification is sent to the recipient mobile device during the session. The recipient mobile device then initiates a HTTP GET request to retrieve the multimedia message via the voice or data channel of a PLMN. If the recipient mobile device is not engaged in an on going or dedicated session with the Internet, the notification is sent to the recipient mobile device as a WAP Push using SMS as bearer via the signaling channel of the PLMN. The recipient mobile device then initiates a HTTP GET request to retrieve the multimedia message via the voice or data channel of the PLMN.
Abstract:
A method and system for generating a search on a computer network (15), such as the Internet, is disclosed. An http-client (10) generated a search request from a user at a selected location via a first network. Location data (50) is determined for a mobile telephone (35) at the selected location via a second network. The search request and the location data (50) for the selected location are forwarded to a server (20) wherein search results are generated based upon the search request and the location data (50). The search results are returned to the http-client (10) for display to a user.
Abstract:
A node and a method for use in an IPTV communications network. The node comprises a prediction logic function for determining when the node must receive data fragments relating to a plurality of IPTV channels, and a transmitter for, as a result of the determination, requesting from at least one remote node fragments for the plurality of IPTV channels such that the fragments will, when rendered, provide at least one of the IPTV channels at a reduced quality. A receiver is provided for receiving the requested fragments, along with a memory for storing the received fragments. By requesting fragments for a channel that, when rendered, provide the channel at a reduced quality, bandwidth requirements are reduced.
Abstract:
A method and arrangement for establishing a packet-switched multimedia session for a mobile terminal connected to a mobile access network. A first Radio Access Bearer RAB is obtained, and the multimedia session is started by communicating media over the first RAB. Simultaneously with the media communication, a quality of communicated media is monitored and evaluated. If the monitored quality is deemed unacceptable, a media-adapted second RAB is obtained, and the session is continued over the second RAB. Thereby, it is not necessary to delay the communication of media by waiting for the second RAB to be obtained.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A method and node for use in a non-linear network delivering streaming media. The node has a receiver arranged to receive data fragments from the network, each data fragment tagged with a timestamp providing a time interval relative to an epoch time reference point. A buffer is also provided for storing the received data fragments. The node also has a processor configured to calculate, on the basis of a timestamp of a data fragment stored in the buffer and a further criterion, a schedule for requesting faither fragments. A transmitter is provided for sending fragment requests at times determined by the processor as a result of the calculation. In this way, fragments are not requested unnecessarily, which reduces the amount of network traffic and reduces the processing requirements of both the node and nodes that receive the requests.
