PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink composition providing stable ejection properties and to provide an image formation method which achieves stable ejection properties and provides an image having excellent rubbing resistance. SOLUTION: The ink composition comprises at least a water-soluble organic solvent (a), a pigment (b), water (c) and a nonionic polymer compound (d) as a thickner, wherein the content of the water-soluble organic solvent (a) is 5-30 mass% relative to the total amount of the ink composition, and viscosity measured by changing the shear rate of the ink composition satisfies the following expression: 0.70≤V high /V low ≤0.95, wherein V high is viscosity at 25°C measured at a shear rate of 1.5×10 5 (s -1 ) and V low is viscosity at 25°C measured at a shear rate of 3.0×10 3 (s -1 ). PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method which enables a full color printing of high definition to be executed on a commercial printing paper, an image to be recorded which excels in blocking resistance, offset-proof quality and abrasion resistant printing quality, and accelerates recording.
