CONSTITUTION:A sample-and-hold circuit 7 samples a noise E outputted sequentially from an infrared-ray video image device 2 and a video signal F superimposed with the noise and outputs the result to an A/D converter 8. The converter 8 converts the noise E and the signal F into a digital signal and outputs the signal to a storage section 9. The storage section 9 outputs sequentially the noise data and video image data to a computer 5 sequentially. The computer 5 processes statistically plural noise data and video data, selects the noise data and video image data with high data reliability and uses the selected data to calculate the noise equivalent temperature difference and a minimum searchable temperature difference.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To attain high resolution processing for a A/D converter, and to attain miniaturization and low power consumption by applying A/D conversion to an input signal with a low resolution A/D converter, dividing the signal into a small range as an offset voltage, applying A/D conversion to a difference resulting from subtracting the offset voltage from the input signal with an accurate A/D converter and synthesizing them after A/D conversion. CONSTITUTION:All levels of an input signal IN are divided into a small ranges of 2 =2 =8 and rough A/D conversion is applied to the signal depending on its level by a low resolution A/D converter 22 and the result is outputted to a window selector 23. The selector 23 divides output data into small ranges (R0-R7), which are converted into an analog signal by a D/A converter 24. The analog signal is used for offset voltages (0V, Vc1-Vc7) and a difference DELTAA between an output Vi of a sample-and-hold circuit 27 sampling and holding the input signal IN and each of the analog offset voltages is obtained by a subtractor 25 and an accurate A/D converter 21 is used to apply A/D conversion to the difference. Its output data DELTAD are added to a range designation signal from the selector 23 at a data synthesizer 26 to obtain a digital output signal OUT. Thus, the A/D converter with high resolution is obtained.

The mechanical state change of the robot 5 is detected by means of a limit sensor. When a detected state is a risky state, direct risk avoidance control of the drive part 3 is performed by a first control mechanism. When it is decided by the control part 6 based on information from the television camera that a risky state is produced, the drive part 3 is controlled by a second control mechanism. When it is decided by the remote operation control part 7 from information from various sensors 4 that a risky state is produced, a command is outputted to the control part 6 from a third control mechanism to perform control.

An arithmetic section 4 detects the increasing state of the high frequency component and generates a signal showing the focusing state. A lens system movement mechanism 5 moves the lens system 1 according to the output of the arithmetic section 4. The control is performed constantly so that the infrared ray image of the infrared ray detection section 2 is focused. Further, the speed control, stop control, and prediction control is performed at the time of moving the lens system 1 and the operation is made smooth.

The information of the mark and character is superposed on TV signals such as map information by a video overlay circuit 3, and the resultant is displayed on a TV screen.
