Abstract: A radio frequency (RF) microelectromechanical system (MEMS) package includes a first mounting substrate, a signal line formed on a top surface of the first mounting substrate, the signal line comprising a MEMS device selectively electrically coupling a first portion of the signal line to a second portion of the signal line, and a ground assembly coupled to the first mounting substrate. The ground assembly includes a second mounting substrate, a ground plane formed on a bottom surface of the second mounting substrate, and at least one electrical interconnect extending through a thickness of the second mounting substrate to contact the ground plane, wherein the ground plane is spaced apart from the signal line.

Abstract: A system (10) includes a capacitor unit (12) having one or more capacitors (18) within a body (14) of the capacitor unit (12), wherein the capacitor unit (12) comprises at least two bushings (22, 24). The system includes a monitoring system (34) having a first antenna (40). The monitoring system is configured to couple to the at least two bushings (22, 24) to form a resonant frequency (LC) circuit (45) having a capacitance based at least in part on an effective capacitance of the capacitor unit (12). The monitoring system (34) is configured to send a first signal to a radio frequency (RF) reader (46) at a frequency based at least in part on the effective capacitance of the capacitor unit (12) via the first antenna (40). The first signal is associated with health of the capacitor unit (12).

Abstract: A rotary machine includes a rotatable shaft (106) and a retaining ring (202) coupled to, and at least partially extending about, the rotatable shaft (106). The rotatable shaft (106) defines a longitudinal axis (204). The rotatable shaft (106) and the retaining ring (202) define an annular cavity (206). The rotatable shaft (106) and the retaining ring (202) each include a radially outer surface (208,210). The rotary machine also includes a monitoring system including a stationary reader-antenna (240) positioned proximate the retaining ring (202) and a radio frequency (RF) coupler (220). The RF coupler includes at least one flexible antenna band (222,224) coupled to, and extending over, the radially outer surface of the retaining ring (202). The flexible antenna band (222,224) is configured to establish RF coupling with the stationary reader-antenna (240). A sensor die is coupled to the flexible antenna band. The sensor die extends into the substantially annular cavity (206) and the sensor die is also coupled to the radially outer surface (208) of the rotatable shaft (106).
