    Abstract: An antenna comprises a cavity 20 with conductive material on opposing surfaces 24, 26. Two slots 16-1, 16-2 in the conductive material, which may cross at 90 degrees, are of different lengths and have resonant frequencies above and below the resonance of the antenna as a whole. The conductive surfaces may be formed on a dielectric body 20. The antenna is adapted to receive both linearly polarised and circularly polarized signals. The antenna may be adapted for mounting on a vehicle with a mounting bracket and a protective cover. The conductive surface with the slots may be dome shaped and the protective cover may be formed on the surface. Alternatively, the protective cover may form a radome. The lengths of the slot may be calculated from the required frequency and bandwidth and the dielectric constant of the slots using a disclosed method.
