    Abstract: A method and system to selectively secure the display of advertisements on web browsers, defining a particular displayed area of said interpreted markup file, obtaining the DOM tree of said interpreted markup file, said DOM tree comprising parent and child nodes; each node being associated with displayable elements, identifying in the DOM tree a set of child nodes whose displayable elements comprise said particular displayed area, identifying in the DOM tree a first parent node comprising said set of child nodes, converting displayable elements associated with said identified first parent node to an image, generating a second parent node comprising said image, modifying the DOM tree into a modified DOM tree by deleting said identified set of child nodes and by replacing the identified first parent node by the second parent node.

    Abstract: A system and associated method for dynamic error dampening in a node in a network system. The node collects statistics of data traffic transferred through the node. The node has a link error MIB storing Error ratio and Reliability of interface of the node. When the Error ratio is too high, the node starts running a Layer 2 protocol for monitoring data traffic and calculates Penalty of the node. When Penalty is higher than predefined Suppress Threshold, the node deactivates Layer 3 link while the Layer 2 protocol still monitors the interface. Once the Penalty becomes lower than Reuse Threshold, the node reactivates the Layer 3 link that had been previously deactivated. When Penalty becomes zero (0), the node clears the Error ratio and stops the Layer 2 protocol for monitoring the data traffic.

    Abstract: A method and system for creating a recursive scalable template instance (RSTI) in an electronic data table having dimensions D1 and D2. A recursive scalable template (RST) associated with the RSTI is selected such that the RSTI is to be structured in accordance with the RST. A plurality of contiguous recursive element instances (REIs) of the RSTI is created in a memory of a computer system. The REIs are ordered and aligned along the dimension D1. Each REI has a same size along the dimension D2. Each RET includes at least one scalable template instance (STI). Each REI is structured according to a recursive element (RE) defined for the RST such that the RE includes at least one scalable template (ST). Each ST of the RE is instanced to generate an associated scalable template instance (STI) of an REI of the plurality of REIs.

    Abstract: System and program product are provided for facilitating on-line help information in an office application which includes one or more objects. The on-line help information is dependent on content of a selected object of the office application. A user of the office application is provided with help information setting forth an example directly derived from content of the currently selected object or cell. Content of a user entry field within the object is parsed to determine whether a predefined keyword is present, and if so, at least one parameter associated with the keyword and at least one format or rule related to the at least one parameter are identified. The at least one format and rule specified in the help information are employed in correcting content of the user entry field, for example, for display to the user.

    Abstract: Methods for handoff in a wireless communication network comprised of a local area network connected to a plurality of base stations, each of which has a geographic area, defined as a cell, within which mobile stations can communicate with a base station, with each such base station being capable of performing bidirectional wireless communication with one or more of said mobile stations under control of a controller, with communication between base stations and mobile stations being performed by frequency hopping, with there being n available frequency hopping channels in a fixed frequency band, with each channel being of a same fixed duration and having a fixed frequency different than another channel. The handoff method employs structure and techniques for determining by a mobile station that the quality of transmission between it and a current base station has degraded below a predetermined performance level, structure and technique for said mobile station to listen to each of successive frequency channels for a duration substantially less than said fixed duration of a channel until it senses a transmission from another base station, and structure and techniques for transferring control of said mobile station to said another base station in response to the sensed transmission.

    Abstract: In a radio extension of an ATM network, prior to establishing a given connection the switch of a fixed network enquires access points as to what is the resource situation in said access points. After receiving responses the switch decides to which access point the connection is allocated. During handover, the resource enquiry is accomplished as a response to the handover request sent by the mobile terminal, which request is transmitted either when the connection to the old access point still operates or after the connection is closed; in the latter case, the request is retransmitted through the new access point.
