    Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling message schema and size for internet-of-things (IoT) devices is provided. An exemplary method includes determining if a cost function for a new schema and message size combination is less than the cost function of a current schema and message size combination by calculating the cost function for each of a plurality of schema and message size combinations, and determining if the cost function for one of the plurality of schema and message size combinations is lower than a current schema and message size combination.

    Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture to improve accuracy of a fog/edge-based classifier system are disclosed. An example apparatus includes a transducer to mounted on a tracked object, the transducer to generate data samples corresponding to the tracked object; a discriminator to: generate a first classification using a first model based on a first calculated feature of the first data samples from the transducer, the first model corresponding to calculated features determined from second data samples, the second data samples obtained prior to the first data samples; generate an offset based on a difference between a first model feature the first model and a second model feature of a second model, the second model being different than the first model; and adjust the first calculated feature using the offset to generate an adjusted feature; a pattern matching engine to generate a second classification using vectors corresponding to the second model based on the adjusted feature; and a counter to, when the first classification matches the second classification, increment a count.

    Abstract: Ultrasonic location systems are provided. These ultrasonic location systems include two or more wave transmitters, two or more wave receivers, and a mapping component that controls the operation of the transmitters and the receivers. The mapping component relies on collaborative operation of multiple transmitters and multiple phased-array receivers where each of the transmitters emits a short burst of sound wave in a pre-defined sequence and after every burst all phased-array receivers detect the wave reflected from surrounding objects. The mapping component uses the position of the transmitters, the position of the receivers, the time of transmission, the time of reception, and the phase shift of the waves to calculate a time of flight and a direction of arrival for the reflections. The mapping component uses triangulation to determine a distance between any physical objects acting as sources of reflection and one or more physical objects having a recorded position relative to the receivers.
