Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating material having high heat resistance and transparency, further having good electric insulation, low water absorption and a low dielectric constant, and especially suitable for an optical material and a printed circuit board; and to provide a method for producing the coating material. SOLUTION: The coating material contains a cyclic olefin-based addition polymer containing a structural unit (1) represented by general formula (1) (wherein, A 1 to A 4 are each independently an atom or a group selected from a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a methyl group and an ethyl group), and a structural unit having a silyl group as a part of the substituent of the structural unit (1) in a specific proportion, and an organic solvent. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cyclic olefin resin composition that retains desirable transparency, heat resistance and mechanical properties inherent in a specific cyclic olefin ring-opening (co)polymer and exhibits excellent flame retardancy by compounding the cyclic olefin ring-opening (co)polymer and a specific flame-retardant into a composite. SOLUTION: The cyclic olefin resin composition comprises 100 pts.wt. of the cyclic olefin ring-opening (co)polymer [I] obtained by ring-opening polymerizing a monomer containing the specific cyclic olefin compound and hydrogenating at least 90% of carbon-carbon unsaturated bonds and 2-40 pts.wt. of the specific condensed phosphate ester compound [II]. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of treatment for obtaining a film or a sheet containing a cycloolefin copolymer which has a high heat resistance and transparency, an excellent chemical resistance, dimensional stability and tensile property and a film or sheet obtained by the method and suitable for use in optical parts. SOLUTION: The film or the sheet which has a high heat resistance and transparency, an excellent chemical resistance, dimensional stability and tensile property is obtained by bringing the film or the sheet containing a cycloolefin copolymer having a hydrolyzable silyl group into contact with a water-containing liquid composition at 100-250°C.
