PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing aldehyde excellent in an initial conversion rate, and capable of obtaining a target aldehyde with a high conversion rate over a long period of time.SOLUTION: The method for producing aldehyde comprises contacting a gas containing a vaporized primary alcohol with a dehydrogenation catalyst to dehydrogenate the primary alcohol to obtain an aldehyde. The dehydrogenation catalyst is a film-type dehydrogenation catalyst composed of a thin film-like catalyst layer including a powder catalyst, and a silicon-containing resin as a binder on a support medium.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition suitable for use in manufacturing a molded body having a catalytic action, and a film-like catalyst using the coating composition. SOLUTION: The coating composition includes one or not less than two inorganic powders selected from among precursors of catalytically active substances, catalytically active substances, inorganic carriers, inorganic carriers supporting the precursors of the catalytically active substances and inorganic carriers supporting the catalytically active substances, one or not less than two kinds of water-soluble solvents selected from among methyl isobutyl ketone, acetone, cyclohexanone, phenol, methanol, ethanol, and butanol, a phenolic resin, and water. SOLUTION: This magnetic recording medium 1 contains an intermediate layer 3 provided adjacent to a support body 2 and a magnetic layer 4 provided as the topmost layer. The thickness d1 (μm) of the magnetic layer 4 is 0.05-0.4 μm and the thickness d2 (μm) of the intermediate layer 3 is 0.5-2.5 μm. When the thickness of the support body 2 is represented by dS (μm), the value of a parameter k1 defined by k1 =d2 /(d2 +dS) is 0.08 is 1.0

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium which can obtain high outputs in the whole range of recording frequencies and particularly has an output characteristic at a high frequency range improved, thereby enabling high-density recording. SOLUTION: A dry thickness of a first magnetic layer 4 is 0.05-0.5 μm and a coercive force is 135-260 kA/m. A second magnetic layer 3 contains ferromagnetic powder of a tabular hexagonal having an axis of easy magnetization in a direction perpendicular to a plate face and orientated in a longitudinal direction of a magnetic recording medium. An SFD(switching field distribution) of the second magnetic layer 3 is not larger than 0.4 and a residual magnetic flux density is 5×10 -1×10 T. Moreover, an SFD in a perpendicular direction to the longitudinal direction is not larger than 2.0 and a coercive force is 110-220 kA/m.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing an aldehyde, which has excellent aldehyde selectivity and can afford a desired aldehyde at a high conversion ratio over a long period of time.SOLUTION: There is provided a process for producing an aldehyde wherein a mixed gas containing a gasified primary alcohol and an inert gas, a partial pressure of the primary alcohol being 50 kPa or less, is contacted with a film-type dehydrogenation catalyst comprising a thin-film catalyst layer formed on a support, whereby the primary alcohol in the mixed gas is dehydrogenated to afford an aldehyde.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb packing column shaped gas-liquid contact apparatus for bringing gas and a liquid into contact with each other in an ascending flow state in a column-shaped container, in which a honeycomb structure capable of stabilizing a flow state in gas-liquid contact, is housed, and an operation method therefor.SOLUTION: In the honeycomb packing column shaped gas-liquid contact apparatus 10 for bringing the gas and the liquid into contact with each other in an ascending flow state within the column-shaped container 11, the honeycomb structure 12 for bringing the gas and the liquid into contact with each other is housed in the column-shaped container. The honeycomb structure is composed of a large number of parallel fine flow channels and the hydraulic diameter of the cross-sectional shape in the width direction of each fine flow channel is below 1 mm and, preferably, the cross-sectional shape in the width direction of the fine flow channel is a triangle.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an exothermic shaped product which can adjust the moisture content of the exothermic shaped product rapidly and low and can produce the exothermic shaped product with good heat generating characteristics by using a simple manufacturing facility. SOLUTION: A paper-making process which makes paper from a raw material composition comprising an oxygenated metal powder, a water retaining agent, a fibrous substance, an electrolyte, and water, and forms an intermediate shaped product, and a drying process which holds this intermediate shaped product formed at this paper-making process on its surface and back surface and heats and dries it while it is pressed. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the heating compact comprises a paper making process for manufacturing a raw material composition comprising oxidized metal powders, a water holding agent, a fibrous material, electrolyte, and water, and forming an intermediate compact, and a drying process for drying the intermediate compact formed in the paper making process while holding and pressing the intermediate compact on the front and rear surfaces.
