Abstract:
The present invention relates to a device for controlling a state of a terminal with respect to mobility management, and a method thereof. The state of the terminal includes a disconnected state (600) and a connected state (500), the connected state (500) includes an active state (510) and an idle state (520), and the active state (510) includes an active sub-state (511 ) and a standby sub-state (512). The terminal in the active state (510) updates location information for each cell, and the terminal in the idle state (520) updates the location information for each radio access network registration area including a plurality of cells. The terminal in the standby sub-state (512) determines a quality of service (QoS) of packet data, and performs the handover or is set to be in the idle state (520) according to the determined QoS.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a power saving mode control system (200) and method in a wireless portable Internet system. Stations in the sleep mode are grouped by aligning listening intervals of the stations which enter the sleep mode in the power saving management system wherein the sleep interval for receiving no traffic data is exponentially increased. Therefore, the sleep mode of the grouped subscriber stations are easily managed, and power saving efficiency is enhanced and system complexity is lowered by easily and quickly detecting data states provided to the corresponding stations.
Abstract:
A method and device for requesting and reporting channel quality information in a mobile communication is disclosed. Wherein an uplink radio resource for a subscriber station having data to transmit is allocated and a CQI indicator for requesting channel quality information is added to the allocation information to be transmitted to a subscriber station (S60). The subscriber station having received the uplink radio resource allocation information generates channel quality information by measuring the radio channel quality for communication with the base station according to existence of the indicator and transmits (S62) desired uplink data having the generated channel quality information to the base station. As a result, the seamless and efficient channel quality report can be performed in the wireless communication system, and the optimal modulation and the channel coding level can be adapted (S64) for the subscriber to transmit or receive the data corresponding to the reported channel quality information.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for allocating and accessing downlink resources in the OFDMA communication system. In the resource allocation method, bursts having the same modulation and channel encoding level are arranged in a predetermined temporal order on a physical layer. Information on the allocated unit resources is included in a common control block and is transmitted to a subscriber station, and the subscriber station then detects a number of the allocated unit resources to thus check the range of bursts to be received by the subscriber station. Therefore, power consumption by the subscriber station is reduced and signaling overheads of the common control information and unneeded residual resources are decreased.

Abstract:
Provided is a method and apparatus for discontinuously transmitting/receiving packets for low- power consumption of a terminal in a cellular system for packet transmission. The present research provides a method and apparatus that can perform a low-power consuming operation when a terminal is in active state in a cellular system. The method for discontinuously transmitting/receiving packet data to reduce power consumption of a terminal in a cellular system, including the steps of : a) establishing discontinuous reception/transmission (DRX/DTX) parameters including discontinuous DRX/DTX cycle information for terminals operating in a transmission suspension mode, which is a sub-state of an active state; and b) performing DRX/DTX based on the DRX/DTX parameters in the terminals operating in the transmission suspension mode.
