Abstract: A wireless power transfer device transmits wireless power to a wireless power reception device and comprises primary coils, transmitting wireless power by magnetically coupling to secondary coils of the wireless power reception device, and a shield protecting the wireless power transfer device from a magnetic field from at least one of the primary coils. The primary coils comprise: a first bottom coil and a second bottom coil not overlapping each other on a first plane; and a first top coil and a second top coil not overlapping each other on a second plane located above the first plane, wherein one side of the first top coil is located above the first bottom coil, the other side of the first top coil is located above the second bottom coil, and one side of the second top coil is located above the second bottom coil.

Abstract: A method for transmitting a control error packet to a wireless power transmitter includes transmitting the control error packet including a control error value to the wireless power transmitter within a first time interval or a second time interval larger than the first time interval, based on a type of a power profile and a version of wireless power transfer standard with which the wireless power receiver and the wireless power transmitter comply. When the version of the wireless power transfer standard is a first version, the wireless power receiver transmits the control error packet within the first time interval. When the version of the wireless power transfer standard is a second version higher than the first version and the type of the power profile is an extended power profile, the wireless power receiver transmits the control error packet within the second time interval.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for supporting heterogeneous communication in a wireless power transmission system. The present disclosure discloses a wireless power receiver comprising: a power pickup unit configured to receive, from a wireless power transmitter, a digital ping signal or wireless power by magnetically coupling with the wireless power transmitter at an operating frequency, and to convert an alternating current signal generated by the wireless power into a direct current signal; a communication/control unit configured to receive the direct current signal from the power pickup unit, and to perform at least one of an in-band communication using the operating frequency and an out-band communication using a frequency other than the operating frequency; and a load configured to receive the direct current signal from the power pickup unit. As a heterogeneous communication protocol can be selected at an early stage of power transmission between the wireless power transmitter and the wireless power receiver, it is possible to support various applications of wireless power transmission.
