Abstract: PURPOSE:To defrost a substance to be defrosted quickly and uniformly by a method wherein defrosting is started by operating first and second high-fre quency generators and the first high-frequency generator is stopped upon detect ing a predetermined temperature, thereafter, the second high-frequency generator is stopped CONSTITUTION:A temperature detector 8, detecting the surface temperature of the substance to be defrosted, is arranged in a part of a defrosting chamber, formed by partitioning a part in a cold storage chamber while the first and second high-frequency generators 19, 21, oscillating in different frequencies, are provided in the refrigerator. The frequency of the generator 19 is set higher than the same of the generator 21 while defrosting is started by operating the generators 19, 21 by a defrost control means, consisting of first comparator 10, second comparator 11, a timer circuit 12 and the like, and the generator 19 is stopped when the temperature detector 8 has detected the predetermined temperature, thereafter, the generator 21 is stopped. According to this method, defrosting time may be quickened, high-frequency wave may soak to the central part of the substance to be defrosted and the same substance having thick thickness may be defrosted uniformly.
