    Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to mitigating maximum permissible exposure (MPE) constraints based on user equipment (UE) feedback are provided. A first wireless communication device transmits, to a second wireless communication device, a plurality of reports, each report indicating an allowable transmission power level at the first wireless communication device satisfying an MPE parameter. The first wireless communication device receives, from the second wireless communication device, a first configuration based on an MPE profile associated with the first wireless communication device in response to the plurality of reports. The first wireless communication device transmits, to the second wireless communication device, a first communication signal over a first beam based on the first configuration.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for phase error estimation and correction with sub-symbol resolution. A transmitting device may precode symbols (e.g., phase tracking reference signal (PT-RS) symbols) using a discrete Fourier transform (DFT). The transmitting device may map the DFT-precoded symbols to sets of adjacent subcarriers of a wireless signal, and may map other symbols to other subcarriers of the wireless signal. A receiving device may receive the wireless signal and may compare time domain representations of the DFT-precoded symbols with time domain representations of known reference symbols. The receiving device may estimate a phase error with sub-symbol resolution in the time domain based at least in part on the comparison, and may apply a phase correction in either the time or frequency domain to the other symbols.

    Abstract: When a first node is subject to a maximum permissible exposure (MPE) condition, it may be beneficial for the first node to signal, to a second node, an uplink beam to be used for communications and/or one or more properties of the uplink beam. For example, the first node may signal a downlink beam, from a first reciprocal beam pair, and an uplink beam, from a second reciprocal beam pair, to be used for communications, and/or may signal one or more properties of the uplink beam and/or the downlink beam. Additionally, or alternatively, the second node may transmit, to the first node, a signaling state (e.g., a transmission configuration indication (TCI) state) that indicates properties to be used to configure an uplink beam and/or a downlink beam. In this way, the first node and the second node may configure beams in a manner that accounts for MPE limitations.

    Abstract: Techniques are provided for power control in directional beam environments. A user equipment (UE) may determine one or more power parameters on a beam-by-beam basis. Each directional uplink transmission beam in a communication link between the UE and the base station may be independently controlled using these beam-specific power parameters. Examples of these beam-specific power parameters may include a maximum output power for a given directional uplink transmission beam and a difference between the maximum output power for the given directional uplink transmission beam and an estimated transmit power for the given directional uplink transmission beam. The UE may report one or more of these beam-specific power parameters to a base station using a beam-specific report.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for signaling and switching of beam pair links (BPLs) for directional transmission beams between a base station and a user equipment (UE). A threshold value may be determined, which corresponds to an amount of time for a UE to receive and decode control information, and apply a different BPL than a current BPL that that is in use. The UE may maintain a BPL for data, which is used during data transmission time intervals (TTIs) until an indication is received to change the BPL for data. The UE and the base station may determine to change between BPLs based at least in part on the threshold value and a scheduling offset between a control channel transmission that allocates resources for a data TTI and a start of the data TTI.

    Abstract: Wireless communication techniques that include beam training performed to aid mobile devices in identifying beams for use in communications (e.g., uplink communications) are discussed. A mobile device may transmit to a base station an indication of a level of beamforming reciprocity of the mobile device. A mobile device not capable of full beamforming reciprocity may determine a transmission beam through uplink beam training.     Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to allocating resource blocks and resource block groups in a system band in order to reduce overhead associated with resource allocation. To reduce overhead, the wireless communication device communicates a signal in a control channel that indicates a general area and a resource block in the general area that stores data. The wireless communication device then communicates multiple resource blocks that include the resource block and communicates the data in the resource block using the signal. To reduce overhead, the wireless communication device also communicates multiple mappings for each resource block group into a set of resource blocks and a signal in a control channel that selects one of the multiple mappings. The communication device then determines resource blocks that are included in the resource block group according to the mapping, and communicates data in these resource blocks.
