    Abstract: This disclosure generally relates to systems, devices, apparatuses, products, and methods for wireless communication. For example, a user equipment (UE) device within a wireless communication system may select a desired number of antenna elements for receiving a communication from another device based on a channel quality determination. The UE receives a first signal from a transmitting device using a first beam. The UE determines a channel quality metric and compares the channel quality metric with a channel quality threshold. The UE adjusts a number of antenna elements used for beamformed wireless communication between the transmitting device and the UE based on the comparison between the channel quality metric and the channel quality threshold. Based on this adjustment, the UE receives a second signal from the transmitting device using a second beam that has a different number of antenna elements than the first beam.

    Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may determine an amount of energy with which the UE is able to transmit in a first network. The UE may send, to a base station, information indicating the determined amount of energy. The UE may receive, from the base station, scheduling information based on the information indicating the determined amount of energy. The base station may receive, from the UE, the information indicating the amount of energy with which the UE is able to transmit in a first network. The base station may determine scheduling information based on the information indicating the amount of energy with which the UE is able to transmit in the first network, and the scheduling information may prevent the UE from exceeding a threshold amount of energy for a time period. The base station may send, to the UE, information indicating the scheduling information.

    Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to improving user equipment (UE) mobility performance are provided. A wireless communication device camps on a first cell operating on a first carrier frequency. The wireless communication device receives, from the first cell, cell selection priority information indicating a priority for each of a plurality of carrier frequencies. The wireless communication device evaluates each of two or more candidate cells over an evaluation time duration associated with each candidate cell, wherein an end time of the evaluation time duration of a candidate cell associated with a lower priority carrier frequency is configured to be after an end time of the evaluation time duration of a candidate cell associated with a higher priority carrier frequency. The first wireless communication device selects a second cell from the two or more candidate cells for camping based at least in part on the evaluation of the second cell.

    Abstract: Method and apparatus are provided for generating and reporting actual UL transmission power. In accordance with some implementation, a UE sends a first indication of power headroom to a base station. The UE may, from the base station, one or more resources allocation for a UL transmission. UE then may determine actual transmission power to be used in the UL transmission. Upon determination, the UE may the UL transmission based on the determination and send an indication of the actual transmission power to the base station.

    Abstract: Techniques for providing transmission throttling for emission exposure management are described. Embodiments implement duty cycle based transmission throttling for emission exposure management. Transmission throttling implemented in accordance with embodiments drops or skips transmission of some portion of transmission blocks of a communication process, such as to drop some transmission blocks providing retransmission of data. Transmit power levels utilized with respect to each of transmission blocks transmitted may be closer to that of a transmit power control target level (e.g., meeting the TPC target level) while nevertheless meeting an emission exposure limit level. Embodiments may, for example, be implemented with respect to a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some wireless communications systems, wireless devices (e.g., user equipment (UEs) and base stations) may communicate using beamformed transmissions. If a wireless device receives a transmission over multiple receive beams, the device may utilize signal measurements over the beams to determine a signal direction, a type of noise associated with the transmission, or both. The device may determine a signal direction based on received signal strength measurements over at least two receive beams and may select a beam for communication based on the determined signal direction. Additionally or alternatively, the device may compare noise measurements for the signal over at least two receive beams and may determine whether the noise corresponds to interference or white noise. The device may detect the direction of an interferer and may modify reception or demodulation based on the type of noise detected.
