Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject material consisting of a gel containing a specific aliphatic polyester as a main component, capable of controlling a thermal transition temperature, enabling ON-OFF control in release of a medicine in arbitrary temperature range and suitable for medicine transfer system, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective material is composed of a gel consisting essentially of an aliphatic polyester obtained by polymerizing (A) a polyester-based polyfunctional macromonomer of formula I [R is H or 1-6C alkyl; X is H, halogen, cyano, 1-6C alkyl or phenyl; A is aliphatic polyester chain; m is 0 or 1; p is 0-6] and (B) a polyethylene glycol having a polymerization group at the end of formula II [X is X ; Y is H, alkyl, C(=0)C(X )=CH2; (n) is 5-50] in a weight ratio of the component A to the component B of (99/1 to 70/30) and average polymerization degree of the polyester chain is in the range of 5-500.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a membrane material exhibiting the nature of the skin permeability of drugs resembling the skin permeability of the drugs of the human skin by forming a copolymer of a monomer having a hydroxyalkyl group and a macromonomer having a polyorgano-siloxane chain of a prescribed copolymer compsn. CONSTITUTION:This skin model membrane consists of the copolymer having the repeating units expressed by general formulas (I) and (II), the molar ratio of the repeating unit expressed by the general formula (I) and the repeating unit expressed by (II) in an 80/20 to 1/99 range and >=1000 number average mol.wt. In the general formula (I), R is a hydrogen atom, halogen atom, cyano group, 1 to 6C alkyl group or phenyl group; R is a hydroxyalkyl group. In the formula (II), X is a hydrogen atom, halogen atom, cyano group, 1 to 6C alkyl group or phenyl group; R to R are alkyl groups or phenyl groups which may be the same or different; (p) is an integer from 2 to 6; (n) is an integer from 1 to 10.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To produced a polyester-based polyfunctional macromonomer which is composed of a specific structural unit and useful in giving biodegradable polymer materials, a drug release-controlling materials or the like because of its excellent mechanical properties and tensile elongation. CONSTITUTION:The macromonomer is represented by the formula I [R is H, 1 to 16C alkyl; X is H, halogen, cyano, 1 to 6C alkyl, phenyl; A is a polyester chain comprising the recurring units of formula II (R is H, methyl, ethyl; q if 0 to 6); m is 0, 1; p is 0 to 6] and has an average degree of polymerization of 1 to 500. The compound of formula I is obtained, for example, by reaction of a triol or tetraol of formula III with a cyclic ester of formula IV followed by reaction of the product with an acid chloride of formula V. The polymerization of the macromonomer gives a polyester gel.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the subject low irritant and low toxic absorption accelerating agent containing a specific polyorganosiloxane and having a good percutaneous absorption-accelerating activity for medicines. CONSTITUTION:The objective absorption-accelerating agent contains a polyorganosiloxane having a carboxylic acid residue at one molecular end and represented by formula I (R -R are 1-6C alkyl, phenyl; A is 2-13C divalent alkylene or divalent alkylene bonded to a methylenephenylene; n is 1 or larger) or formula II (M is alkali metal). The compound of formula I is obtained e.g. by reacting a polyorganosiloxane having a halomethylphenyl group at one molecular end and represented by formula III with water and carbon monoxide in the presence of a group VIII transition metal element and a base. The compound of formula II is also obtained by reacting the compound of formula I with an alkali metal hydroxide. The absorption-accelerating agent is dissolved together with a medicine to be administered in a solvent such as water or an alcohol and subsequently added to a tinctura, an ointment, etc.

Then, this polyamic acid is heated and dehydrated at 100-400 deg.C to obtain the title polyimide contg. repeating units of formula III (wherein A and B may be each different on every repeating unit) and repeating units of formula IV (wherein A is a divalent org. group having an arom. group provided that A and A may be each different on every repeating unit) at a molar ratio of 100-1/0-99.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To readily obtain a copolymer by grafting, through a novel process, polyorganosiloxane side chain to a poly-disubstituted acetylene to introduce any quantity of polyorganosiloxane component without decreasing the molecular weight of the product. CONSTITUTION:First, a poly-disubstituted acetylene carrying C=C bond-contg. group in the side chain is allowed to react, pref. at and R are each alkyl, phenyl, etc.; m is integer, 3-6). Thence, a triorganohalogenosilane compound of formula II (R -R are each the same as R ; X is halogen) is added to the reaction system to terminate the reaction, thus obtaining the objective poly-disubstituted acetylene/polyorganosiloxane graft copolymer carrying polyorganosiloxane in the side chain. The poly-disubstituted acetylene mentioned above is, e.g., poly(2-hexyne).

Abstract: PURPOSE:To perform separation or concentration of a liquid mixture with extremely high efficiency by using a polymer constituted of polystyrene chain having a polysiloxane chain in a phenyl group and polystyrene chain having no polysiloxane chain. CONSTITUTION:A separation membrane is formed of two-component graft polymer comprising a recurrent unit expressed by the formula I and recurrent unit expressed by the formula II. Suitable proportion of the recurrent unit expressed by the formula I is 1-95mol%. Further, preferred mol.wt. of the copolymer is >=10,000, and the preferred film thickness is 0.01-300mum. The membrane is useful for the separation of a liquid mixture, particularly, for the separation of water-alcohol mixture. The separation is performed at -30-150 deg.C and atmospheric pressure - 100atm.
